Hi,

I bought this game about 5 days ago and been wanting to play. However, when I tried to install it, I would type the code and it would start installing but it would always stop at 22.3% or 22.1%! The installer would just stay there and eventually it tells me the Installation has failed. It gives no reason as to why it failed, it just says "Installation failed"...
I believe my computer is strong enough, according to canyourunit.com (or whatever) I can play it and I've been playing Mass Effect 2 on my computer with no problems at all! I contacted customer service and we went through a list of troulbleshooting solutions but none of them worked. I was told that he did not know what was wrong and would talk with his chain of command and they would e-mail me a solution in 24 to 48 hours! It's been 5 days since and I haven't receieved any help. Does anyone know how to fix it so I can install the game? :(

The DVD doesn't like your drive well enough, is all. You need a plain one that doesn't have "write" capability. Borrow an external DVD read-only drive, and you should be fixed up. Quite often if that isn't possible, you can still successfully copy everything to folders on your Hard Drive, to install from there. Personally, I had to use an elderly Sony DVD drive in an old PC on my LAN, and install across the LAN from there.

Last, many people have chosen to accept the free offer from EA to download a digital copy of the game from the EA Store, and run using that.

P. S.  I've had to retire that particular PC, in favor of another one, not quite as "old" since its build, for which I hope not to have to swap back to that Sony DVD drive in the former "Print Server" (I tried using an HP dedicated print server device that just wouldn't do what I wanted).

I wouldn't have been able to assist by describing the digital download process for you. I didn't need to use it, thankfully. My connection is much better than dial-up, but still not good enough for entire games.

I see....unfortunately I'm attending a military academy and can't leave post so I don't think I'll be able to get my hands on an external DVD drive and copy pasting the contents of the disc isn't working for me. Thanks for your help though!

You can use the EA download manager and your CD key to get the digital version of the game if you have decent Internet access. Links and instructions are provided in the 1.05 beta thread pinned to the top of this forum. I'm on my phone and so cannot provide the links right now. Copying the entire disk to your hard drive and running it from there often works as well.
