Not really. Certainly there are racists, sexists and homophobes who may not be white, male, and/or straight. However, that particular phrase is something that only makes sense coming out of the mouth of someone who belonged only to privileged groups.Repzik wrote...

Complaining about stereotyping and then using a stereotype in your defense is not a very logical course of action.
Regardless if there is a truth behind a stereotype doesn't mean you can use it judge or make assumptions about people.

End of Line.
Don't they just?
This whole topic is, quite frankly, idiotic. Maybe the point wasn't that M!Shep isn't bi/gay/whatever, but none of the potential love interests were or were interested at the time. There you go. Fits in with the Lore. The end.
I cannot stand how many people are getting up in arms about ME3 offering potential s/s romances as if it's this great betrayal. If you want straight-only romances, you only need to play...I dunno...any other game in existence with romances (aside from Bioware titles). Because this is the only game maker that actually has gay romances at all. No, I don't count Sims. And, no, I don't count Fable. They have as much depth as a petri dish.
So, please, stop whining about how little you're being pandered to. It reeks of privilege. Christ on a crutch, is giving one game out of every other game in the history of the world a little bit of inclusion such a goddamned hardship?

Or you could just not flirt with people of the same sex, seeing as romantic relationships won't start unless Shepard initiates them.

I like the OPs idea honestly it is a good one definately.
1) it prevents accidentally triggering a romance which lets be honest in DA 2 and ME 2 and ME 1 sometimes you accidentally triggered a romance, i forgot DA 1 didn't i? oh heavens how many times i let poor zevrehn down...he must learn one day that simply because i giver him presents to keep him from stabbing me in the back doesn't mean want a relationship.
I never played DA2, but in Origins you have Zevran who is openly bi, the first time you met him, he is already flirting with you, you can have fun of his flirt like a friend, take it seriously or just say him no, "I`m not interested" end of the line. If you don`t say him that you don`t like men and you are constantly giving him presents what the hell do you expect? <_<

My Female shepard is being loyal to her ME1 romance, Liara and i was able to chat to all the male love interests with no trouble at all, though i admittedly flirted with them for the fun of it, but it never went further and its possible just by not even picking the romance starter option.

I've never played femshep so none of this matters to me because guess what ? Wait for it.....femshep/male shep is a TOGGLE. So simple.mineralica wrote...
I totally LOVE how people started to complain about possibility of s/s now while femShep might romance Liara, Kelly, make some moves on Consort or Morinth... f/f is totally acceptable while m/m is bloody horror?
They just eliminated don't ask don't tell so I'm pretty sure personnel will be recording it....just saying.mineralica wrote...
And speaking of toggle...
- it would be strange to have it in profile (imagine how it first game "het/bi/hom" would be written in military profile... or in second Miranda trying her best to not disturb Shepard's sexuality)
A toggle and clear romance labeled dialog would prevent all that. Any system that uses one or the other is broke on arrival, you need both.mineralica wrote...
- it blocks part of unwanted romances while leaving other part (it would be irritating to reload from poorly phrased option which caused my Kaidan-romancing Shepard to hit on... say, Jack; but reload because same Shepard started to hit on Jacob from same poorly phrased option is not less irritating)

Your absolutely correct. I tried to rationally discuss why the toggle was such an unreasonable or offensive option to s/s and I was attacked. I didn't get one reasonable and rational answer to my question. Why do they care so much how I want to play my game ? It doesn't effect how they want to play it at all. They make me not care about trying to be diplomatic because reason escapes them.LeVaughnX wrote...
no - the lore is how the lore is you fu*king anal monkey. I don't care about earning the respect of thick headed asswipes in the community nor do I care if I get banned anymore for standing up against people who have to throw insults around like you do.
Agreed.LeVaughnX wrote...
Anyway - I'm not whining as much as I'm pointing out a good damned point. S/S is fine but changing the history, lore, story, and characters of a game franchise in the finale is wrong, ignorant, rude, and plainly un-necessary.
I agree with you. No toggle in the game no Buy toggle button on my wallet.LeVaughnX wrote...
I'm all for new characters being gay/bi but I will probably refuse to buy ME3 (and I'm sure there are others out there)

I'm in favour of anything that gives players more control over their own character's choices. What I am not in favour of is a toggle that would force other character's behaviour, such as forcing Kelly to not flirt with femShep. Liara still would because as well all know 'asari aren't female'.

But I am completely against being able to "filter" out s/s content with a toggle. When dealing with the Bi and or Gay characters, or for me the straight ones, it's easy enough to not flirt with that character or turn down their advances in order to avoid unwanted romance. But to remove them completely is very unrealistic and is just as bad as my m!shep letting Shaira paw all over him.

Oh yeah! Just like with Liara and FemShep. Only the option that sounds like it will be harsh and mean and ignorant is a hidden flirt option that has lead so many into being ninjamanced.
I mean that option: BUT YOU'RE A WOMAN!!!
