I will have to retract my observations on Achievements, as these gaming icons are not all alike.

I was extremly pleased to discover while making a new Sentinel Shepard that having unlocked the Sniper Rifle on my previous run also allows me the option to use it this time. Great news!

Yep the achievements in ME actually have some in game effects as opposed to most game achievements that are just gamer points (no real value)

Based upon the new ME2 Talent system, I decided to continue playing my new female Sentinel Shepard followed by a replay of my 50th male Infiltrator Shepard to try and gain those few extra pts. On the little I have seen, my 3rd lvl Shepard had very little options on how to build the character with 4 starting pts, so maybe a couple more pts would not hurt.

And the Achievements that offer IG rewards are a great bonus. Finding the Spectre gear available for my new Shepard was a terrific surprise, though she cannot afford any of it currently.

Q: How does one return to a standing position from being crouched? Sometimes reversing from cover does this on auto, but not always. Thanks!

Its your decision to play ME1 again ( maybe three times ) to get to level 60, but imo its not worth it.

The combat is much better in ME2 than ME1 and I would much rather do some extra combat missions in ME2  gain experience to level up the character.

I played ME2 before I even had ME1 and I found combat in ME1 horrible. ( I played it because I did not like the default choices they make for you, and to get the story ).   It does not sound like you have played ME2 very far yet.  Maybe you will change your mind after you do.

On the crouch change - I play xbox  I think right tumbstick down to crouch, and again to un-crouch.

Thanks! I had not looked earlier for a Crouch hotkey; just something that occured when I went behind certain cover. Will give this a shot.

I believe you are correct that it may not be worth it for a few Talent pts; even the extra Credits is not appealing. But I do enjoy playing another class that has unlocked options; being able to add Sniper Rifle to a Sentinal makes for a more versatile character. She should be adept at all ranges which is something that does seem to occur no matter the tactics.

Since I am running this PC anyway, a shadow squad epeating areas should not be too bad exept for the Citadel itself (dislike City environs).

Q: What are some recommended Tactics for taking down Threshers besides small arms fire?

Shoot Thresher Maws with the Mako. It comes equipped with a minigun and a cannon. Alternate fire between the two guns until it the Thresjer Maw is (a) dead, or (B) almost dead, then hop out and shoot it with your guns.

Apparently killing an enemy while in the Mako nets you fewer XP, So as long as you kill it outside of the Mako you gain the full XP.

Thanks, but besides this; any Tech or Biotic tricks?

Not really, they are in the stasis/warp effected list. Another fairly easy method is to circle strafe them, as long as you keep out of melee distance, but close enough to keep them from submerging you can circle them and their spit will fall behind you.

Thanks; in the past Shepard has been moving left or right while firing, but this lass is not the same kind of shot as a Combat specialist, and was hoping for some other tactical advantage.

And it seems that I actually did somewhat better in my primary run, as I have yet to gain the early levels needed for a decent Charm check in this one. Going to have to take it slower, and finish all those minor missions first, it seems; just hate City adventures, crowds, politics, etc. *sigh*

After my first few pc playthroughs, meaning I'd already played 10 or so times on the 360. I just started consoling in the paragon and renegade points.

Thus far I am avoiding use of the console commands, as the warning of corrupted files is enough to keep this Techless One from using them. And I am finding the game fairly generous as a whole, so no real issues are seen yet.

I am running my first Shepard as a shadow of my new one; repeating planet visits and the like to try and insure that nothing is missed. This one is now 55th, and female Shepard is now 27th. My biggest problem is remembering which Shepard has reached the capped funds and Omni-Gel limits, and which still needs to be frugal and perform manual Decryption.

I am a little surprised that ME2 does not have the wide variety of IG rewards with Achievements as ME1. This little surprise alone has made the replay vaue much higher for me.

Fave worlds?

I love playing the rescue of Liara, as Therum offers great challenges for all lvls. And Vimire is a tropical paradise; reminds me of some of the James Bond film settings (eg; Dr No, Man With the Golden Gun, etc). These stand out somewhat for me, Others?
