 I have installed the game. and it gives me a compatibility error and wont launch.

here is somethign weird. on the initial install, a shortcut was created on the desktop. from that shortcut i could get as far as the first interface screen where i can adjust settings start new game, etc. when i would rty to start a new game, i would get the compat. error. i read that i should try starting from the real exe file so i deleted the short cut and tried to launch from the root exe file.....nada. i cant even get back to that first interface screen. all i get now is the error window.


I am running windows 7 home premium, 64 bit, service pack1. -sony computer.

ive read various posts on how to make it work, but nada.

ive tried various compatibility modes, nada.

csnat find this 1.69 patch.

anyone help...please...i love this game! lol

In my experience, you cannot run NWN on Win 7 without the 1.69 patch. It will crash and burn either before the game starts, after you click "play", or during game play (if the game manages to start).

Run the 1.69 critical rebuild patch - link in another thread on this forum. If you are still having problems, follow the link Sully posted. Furthermore, if the game is NOT in the root directory of your HDD, you need to move it there. The game directory should look like:

C:/NeverwinterNights/NWN

If you need to move it you'll need to edit the registry keys that define the game location or the critcial rebuild will not work.
