I ask because, I was looking through the program of a stunning performance of King Lear I saw in April (Donmar Warehouse on tour, to us culture starved people in Cornwall), only to think "I know that name" when I saw Alec Newman .. of course he's Sebastian
he was excellent as a ebullient  and annoying Edmund, not seen him played quite like that before.

Wish I'd had DA2 with the DLC before I'd seen it, then I might have been excited about seeing him as well as Derek Jacobi

On stage? No.

But I do remember Alec Newman as Muad'Dib from Dune. Not sure if he'd be pleased with that.

Meh it was alright. Dune fans cannot be that picky since we are still waiting for someone like Peter Jackson to make them properly. Would be great to see at least the first trilogy be made in my lifetime.

How many of the VAs are stage actors? I was under the impression they were mostly voice actors and B grade tv actors.

I suspect a lot of the Brits when home do theatre work, keeps them working between cruddy TV jobs. Suspect even then most of that's of a lesser grade, but King Lear at The Donmar with Derek Jacobi is a hell of a job to catch, and Alec Newman was memorable.

He was rehearsing for that role when we first brought him in for Seneschal Bran. I bet he was good, we cast him as Sebastian because we were immediately impressed with him.

Other VO actors on stage... well, here's Mark Meer as Bizarro. Does that count?

I am fairly certain I saw Peter Bramhill perform in the Woman in Black a while ago. It was before I knew who he was or I would have made a point of getting his signature and saying glorious!

nice :) thanks
he didn't quite outshine Jacobi, who could? But he had a powerful stage presence and my husband, who usually falls asleep during King Lear, was talking about him afterwards, that says a lot
