Yes. She's very much a fan of Mass effect though she only watches me play and only likes the first game.  I was surprised by her once while playing me2, she asked a few questions about it. As I tried to explain the storyline to her she said "That's stupid. I like the first game better." and left the room.

ROFL.... you treat a smart girl like that right you hear me.

Always:)

My fiancee is somehow coordinated enough to play Madden, or Tiger Woods, but is not good at shooters at all.  Everytime he sees me typing on these boards, he gasps and whispers "Mass Effect, ZOHMYGAWD!".  I just kind of smile and he rolls his eyes and goes on with life.  Then again, I read a lot of science fiction and fantasy, and he likes James Patterson kind of books, so.

I date a jock, but he accepts my nerdy, geeky side.  I'm blessed that way, I guess.

Opposites attract.... in some situations i guess.

The reason the relationships with nery gamers tend not to work out is because they do not have as much practice and experience with relationships. I mean honestly I would not be surprised if a nice girl wanted to give constructive criticism to her nerdy gamer b/f and his response was...

"GTFO Noob, QQ some more"

The only human interaction some of these guys get negatively reinforces the ability to take criticism causing fights to explode way out of proportion. Its a vicious spiral into a bad social habit.

Anyone who unironically says that to another person likely isn't that "nerdy," specifically if we're going by the conventional sense of "nerd" -- i.e. intelligent, quirky.

Yeah, it's more like douchebag.

Unless it's a joke... I do joke a lot like that. But I try to give it away in my bodylanguange.

Well, of course :P

Hence why I used the word "unironically." I'm not sure if it's an actual word, but it should be. I basically meant that anyone who says something like that and is completely 100% serious is not so nerdy.

I have meet some nerds with serious emotional and social issues... maybe I should have said gaming nerd, or gaming dork... or whatever along those lines.

It scares me sometimes how the lack of social interaction in real life can affect people so negatively.

Remember intelligence is not necesarilly a good guage for how someone reacts in real life. For example look at the mathematician about which the movie "A Beautiful Mind" was about. Did you know he was a deadbeat dad in addition to his other socal issues?

Humans are very social creatures. Depriving anyone of a true social interaction can lead to varying, though often negative, results. I have a lot of internet friends, and a handful of face-to-face buddies that I consider lifelong compatriots. So I myself get a healthy dose of society while keeping my cynical view of humanity in check, my abrasive personality and punk style accounted for, and my love for gaming satisfied to the utmost degree.

'sall about balance!

True, true.

And higher intelligences can often result in more inflated egos. But not me, no-no. Nope. I'm terribly humble. Totally. Absolutely!

(I'm pretty damn arrogant)

Tried multiple times to get the gf interested in ME1, and when ME2 came out I tried again. She won't play because she isn't good at video games, and she hates being bad at things. However, she won't let me delete her Shepard file; that's about as interested as she got: interested enough to have a Shepard she never plays. Oh, and she likes Kaidan.

The fact that Darth Revan, the Dark Lord of the Sith, could be "wubby-dub kissy-face" about anything only confirms the atrocity the Jedi Order committed by ripping a person's soul out with the Force.

However TOR MMO comming out confirms Revan came back to the Light side after and was fine the whole ordeal... and that Revan was a man. I honestly believe BioWare was spitefull at Lucas Arts for hiring Obsidian to develop KotOR 2 with this move. In KotOR 2 everyone insists in the game that Revan was female... and you either agree or need to correct them.

Based on all of that I thought Revan was a she... turns out I was wrong.

Well, Revan is "canonically" a lightside male. But my Revan will always be a near-neutral lightside woman who rejects both extremes of the Force.

The story goes that BioWare actually recommended Obsidian for Kotor II because they couldn't do it themselves, as they were too busy developing Jade Empire.

Well at the risk of totally derailing this thread and turning it into a KOTOR discussion, they had to canonisize (is that even a word) Revan and the Exile in order to move forward with the franchise.  It was always understood that the canon storyline had Revan as a male and the Exile as a female.  It's weird though, as a male I usually feel inclined to role play male characters, but KOTOR was one of the few games I mainly played female.

ANYWAY, back to Mass Effect and significant others:  If my Liara romance plays out the way I hope, then I'll be able to dump the RL GF.  Cuz once you go blue, RL girls won't do.  (haha joking of course...at least I hope. It's always possible that ME3 will suck me in to the point where I won't be able to distinguish reality from fantasy)

My husband introduced me to Mass Effect after raving about it for ages (I'm 23, he's 26 for reference - mentioning a spouse feels way too mature). He had played it on PC. We live in a PC-free apartment (not deliberately - I just prefer Macs and his laptop lives in his office because he's doing a RHD/he has a Mac that functions as a home laptop).
I bought him an XBox for his birthday in July and it didn't work with our 17-year-old-hand-me-down TV. We replaced the TV last month .. and I finished both ME and ME2 in two weeks. Of note, I may/may not have played more on his XBox than he has ..

I still threaten my G/F that I might dump her if the Asari ever come to Earth. Just to get a laugh out of her. It works and she laughs at that. I would never mention Miranda though... that would cause problems.

Oh I called mine into the room during the Miranda engine room scene.  She scowled at me and then went back to doing homework.  One of my favorite ways to provoke her is to act as nerdy as I possibly can, and a public romance with pixel women is the easiest way to achieve this.
