You can imagine my horror when my husband's first reaction to Tali in ME1 was "I think she wants to have sex with me." Then again, I've not told him about my turian fetish yet. Let's hope that doesn't come up..

How do Turian fetishes work exactly?  I mean, I understand the Talimancers more because they are obviously imagining a cute mostly-human-looking girl underneathe the helmet.  But Turians...they've laid it all out there for the world to see.  And it is quite hideous.  Unless you're some sort of bird dog creature.

A load of my friends play it, there's two girls who seem to be interested in it too, and even more who play RPGs but just haven't been introduced to ME.

It's more about personality and their culture plus they're something sexy about their predatory apperance, maybe it's just a primal thing? And they have that distinctive, manly shape.. large shoulders, tiny waist, longer fingers, long arms and legs, muscular (come on, all turians are trained for war, they're all in good shape). And those voices are enough to get any woman excited.

...I feel like I should leave the room here.  Haha

But ok, I get the voices and exaggerated humanoid male-shape thing.  And of course Garrus is a cool dude.

Darn, Extra Credits had an episode a few weeks ago about this very subject. But, their videos have been taken off of The Escapist, and they haven't been put onto Penny Arcade yet. I can't find it on YouTube or through Google, but if you can find Extra Credits: Sharing Our Medium, it talks about ways to introduce video games to new comers.

Wow so negative... try Harder!

Nah just kidding... its hard to force people to like something you like... you have to make them want to get into it at their own accord... kind of like Inception.

No, but I tried to get my friends into it. They all liked ME2, but I can't think of anyone liking ME1 (and I got at least 5 people to play it).

Yeah.

My girlfriend doesn't like it. I don't blame her though. It can be no fun watching; especially when the player is just talking to people...aliens.

Anyway...she ussually just sticks to Mario Kart, so it's not like she actually wants to play. She's not really a gamer and only plays "adventure" games when she has someone, like me, to walk her through it.

I'm not walking her through another game...it took her 110 hours to beat Twilight Princess....x_x...with me telling her what to do.

Yeah, I have. I let my gf build her character in ME1 and make all the choices. She's not really a run and gun player, so I get to do all the combat. In ME2 she told me to just go ahead and do the Paragon Interrupts, unless she's quick enough to get in on a renegade one.

She's looking forward to ME3, but my stipulation is that I get to play my main playthrough first, so I don't know what's coming and all my decisions will be genuine.

No dont do that we need you on the forums so that more people yell at each other for having ridiculous opinions until we make up over a simple thread like this.

I introduced my significant other to Dragon Age successfully, and although initially a bit skeptical it wasn't long before she was hooked and busy wooing Alistair.

Haven't been able to get her into Mass Effect though, she is funny about 'silly looking' aliens that according to her make no sense scientifically and such. It's a shame given that I now know she likes the BioWare forumla.

What about a normal girl who happens to like playing the odd computer game? Otherwise it's a bit like saying your not interested in 'film watching girls' or something.

You misunderstood.

Gaming girls are awesome friends. They are easy to get along with. And I was never trying to imply that girls that play games are not normal. That's just bizarre thinking.

I've tried countless times to introduce my girlfriend into KotoR and Mass Effect 1 and 2 but not only she is not into gaming, she is not into science fiction as well. I've managed to convince her and watch me for an hour (at the most) while asking her what to pick as an dialogue option or choice and even despite that she still gets bored quickly and goads me into doing something else.

I've thought often what it would be if I had a girlfriend interested in that kind of things and while I would like it in the beginning, would probably end up arguing about who's to play and what to play. Plus our gaming schedules wouldn't match likely so I'll be pissed she is gaming when I want to go out and vice versa. Probably for the best that gaming I reserve for myself or my friends. LAN party, beer, smokes, other stuff and of course manjokes. Fun, fun, fun. No women needed thank you.

I've managed to introduce a large portion of my friends though to most of my games or most of the things that I like because let's just say my job requires me to be persuasive plus I know which aspect to talk about to get them in.

If I did have one, I'd probably try and keep my love for games to myself for as long as I could.
