More like the gaynahtzies need to grow up and quit expecting the world to revolve around their sexual debaucheries.  There are more people with foot fetishes than gay people, but I don't want super duper foot inspection mode.  There are 10 times more fat people than gay people, but I don't care or want to waste money on making sure they add fat people to the game.

The BSN community are freakin genius saints compared to the League of Legends boards (or any other DotA clone boards).

Edit: BTW C&C was one of my favorite franchises until C&C4. I didn't take part in the bashing because I just left altogether. I was already distrustful of EA, and C&C4 was the straw that broke the camels back (Mass Effect 3 is planned as my last reluctant purchase from EA because I like Bioware and ME, just not EA).

The difference with the outrage over C&C4 versus the BSN, is that the C&C crowd was completely justified in their opinions, as C&C4 was an awful C&C game (it wasn't even that good at what it was trying to be, an online sport)

The thing is, you've got old fans complaining about the quality of this place going downhill around the time it made the move from the old BioWare Forums to the BSN and because BioWare is braching out and expanding their audience, and you've got new fans that the old fans are complaining about complaining about the quality of this place because they think the old fans are a bunch of "whiners" and "haters" whose "butts hurt" all the time between inane image-only spam posts usually themed around some tired meme or trope.

Well whatever is going on here is simply nothing compared to that.
The way they flat out belittle each other just for not agreeing is sickening.  I guess people like having people hate them because why else do it?  The way they talked about Mass Effect like its a plague on gaming and one person said that the 2nd was a little better and how everyone jumped down his throat for it and he returned with every hateful comment that he can think of.
Its like junior high without any teachers around.  No rules or if there are they aren't enforced.  The wonderful world of being a faceless person behind the screen no one is worried about even pretending to be nice.
I might pick on some people if their being stupid but I never attack them on such a personal level.
A lot of differing opinions but at least I don't see us attacking each other like having those opinions makes us enemies (at least not very often)

I see no point in the topic. Gamers have complained or found *their* faults with many gaming sites over the years and made posts about those sites on, guess what, other gaming sites; this is neither new, nor unsurprising. Now, if this were like on CNN or on TV, then it may be famous in the sense in which you are trying to make it seem.

In total agreement with Rockworm. If I had to pick a worst forum on the spot, it would probably be RPG Codex. There is almost certainly worse out there, but if so, I have yet to encounter it. GameFAQs has a pretty bad community too, save for the odd game specific subforum. I am not too crazy about SRK either. You could not pay me enough to post there. Lurking is painful enough.

BSN is Shangri-La compared to many other larger communities I have seen. I suppose that in itself is a sad statement, considering some of the trash posted around here.

If you know where to look, and play your cards right, BSN can be a very nice place. If you're new to forum-perusing like I was about a year and a half ago, it can be pretty unpleasant. I spent a bit of time 10+ years ago on gamespot and bungie.net, BSN seems slightly less vicious, with the exception of post-launch - that in itself is a nightmare. I was there for DA2's...yikes. Stan ended more lines than I could count.

The BSN's people can be a little. . . frustrating at times, but I still enjoy this place consdering I spend at least 2 hours a day here.

The bioware community forums were very good for years but not nearly as good when they migrated to these forums which were suspect from day one. They also are also way way way to lenient about posters and topics. More topics should be locked and more bans handed out. In their aim to let people have a say they have often bent too far in that direction.

Moving in where? We've got our own forums.

If you mean they'll merge the swtor forums with bsn, I doubt it. This site is the lovechild of Bioware and EA. Unless something changed, Swtor belongs to BioWare and LucasArts, since they made the deal before the EA merge. I don't know if LucasArts will want EA touching their stuff. Eh, maybe they'll join up but, I dunno. They've already got a functioning site, it doesn't need to meld with this... thing.

Turn back the clock to C&C4 announcement and watch the forums for the next several months.

You have never, ever, seen fans, mods and developers destroy each other like that. It was remarkable.

This. Every forum has it's ups and downs and I remember watching the C&C4 forums unfold. My girl friend at the time and I had a great laugh.

And BSN is much better then Youtube. Seriously Youtube "Comments" are generally just 15 year olds (or exceptionally dense people) making pathetic attempts to argue things which they don't know a damn thing about. But hey that's the internet where with Wikipedia and Google everyone is an expert!

BSN is hardly the worse community out there. I always find it funny to see these posts because I'm 99% certain it's someone from here crying about the fact that we don't all sit in a circle doing _ over how great everything Mass Effect is.


Most game forums are dripping with cynicism so that if you're one of those "rose tinted glasses" types yeah you're probably going to be disappointed. Frankly I'd say the worse thing about BSN is the creepy Character/Romance Fanboys as from what I've seen posted elsewhere; that's generally why people avoid BSN. Sadly Bioware has only encouraged this by literally dedicating sections of the forums for Character Adoration.

As for the complainers. People complain everywhere, about everything. And game forums are no exception. No offense but any public game site I've ever visited always has more then a few people saying "This game sucks!" "This game is dead!" "This is overpowered!" "This needs to be nerfed!" "The Devs are stupid and lazy!"

Seriously you'll have to send me a link to these supposed forums where everything everyone says is positive that isn't being patrolled 24/7 by Gestapo Mods. There's a number of trolls, dingbats, and plain creepy folk here... but at least the discussions are semi-intelligent and we're allowed a fair amount of free speech. Though truthfully it does seem like things have gone slightly downhill in recent months. Which is probably mostly due in part to the disgruntled Dragon Age fans.

In my experience, BSN is slightly below average, but mostly because there's no real containment. Go on the Bethsoft forums, and you can have an excellent experience by just avoiding OB/Skyrim general. Here? Well, they've cordoned off the worst of the worst (Mass Effect 3 Character and Romance Discussion I'm looking at you) but there really aren't any havens for good discussion. There's nothing like the XKCD fora's serious business section, or the CivFanatics... well, every forum section in the CivFanatics forums are pretty excellent.

Just regarding this part, it's in its own section so that people who don't want to get involved simply have to avoid that section. I'd hardly say that's a problem.

Aye very true. I've been around forums off an on for years. None of them really last long, and all of them have "odd" things, the ones that don't are just forums made up of ****s that all think the same on a given issue (looking at you galadoria) but this place I have days I ask why some are here when they clearly hate bioware short of one or two games. But there are others I know this site isn't so bad minus some of the more political members. In fact over all I see the bulk of the net short of ordering stuff and news, as a slum or pool of sewage. I see this forum as a slightly nicer slum...or least one where I'm not shot at.
