What's your Shep's motivation in your games....Why is s/he Paragon or Renegade or a shade inbetween...what drives him/her? How does s/he see the Galaxy around him/her? What does s/he get out of it?
Why is s/he fighting to save the Galaxy?...Or just certain races/members?
Why does your Shep do what s/he does?

Your Shep's going to a whole lot of trouble for it....wouldn't just hanging around clubs be a little easier and a lot less dangerous?...Volus Warlord wrote...

I had an Earthborn, so my character goes from a dead-end future in the 'hood to exploring the galaxy with the Alliance, getting to be a part of a golden-age for humanity. Early on, the motivation is proving worthy of the chance he was given, and he fights to make sure other people get a chance like he did (LotSB respons to Liara sums it up perfectly).
Another reason why Jack's romance worked for me was because its symbolic of his motivation. Someone who's clearly not perfect, but still has good in her, and who he can care about. Like Mordin says when talking about his nephew, it's easier to fight for the galaxy when you can put a face to it (... it also helps that she's cute and otherwise a lot of fun).

I'd say throughout ME1 and ME2 my Earthborn was doing things in a similar fashion as the poster above me but by the end of ME2, she's feeling like she's lost a lot of what used to drive her.
Everyone she has ever trusted has managed to betray her somehow.. the Council, the Alliance, Cerberus (ok she never trusted them thatat much, but still) and she's getting fairly fed up with being the good guy who nobody is willing to believe. She's slipped from Paragon to Paragade and is on the cusp of saying "Screw this, I'll stop the Reapers with my own two hands if I have to" simply because survival is more preferrable than extinction, any lofty or noble goals that she once had have been lost.
So at the moment.. there isn't any motivation at all beyond taking care of her crew (that is, making sure neither the Alliance or Cerberus tries to take back the Normandy) and continuing to find some way to stop or fight off the impending invasion. Once ME3 rolls around I think she'll get her wake-up call with the Reapers and hopefully her ambition and determination will come back once the galaxy stops taking her for granted.
Once it is all said and done, she'd probably try to help the galaxy rebuild (provided she's still alive) and go back to her role as a Spectre with Garrus at her side. No sense in retiring if there's still work to be done.

Saving the galaxy from being wiped out by wannabe delusional gods, and most important of all my romance with Liara > "marriage, old age and lots of blue babies"

The galaxy is his motivation. There's so much life that would be wasted if the reapers win, including his own. It's all about survival.

Yeah....'We fight or we die' pretty much sums it up. Shepard knows that when he saves the galaxy he can get as much fine alien squeeze as he wants.

To save everybody from the Reapers. It might be impossible, but he has to try as the alternative is the destruction of all sentient life.

Justice and honor.
Glory also factors into it, if only a little.

My Shepard's a Paragon with just a little bit of renegade mixed in, that's because... I just always do what I view as right. That's the only way I can play a game and really enjoy it. I do what's right.
So I guess his motivations are mine: the need of making the galaxy a better place.
By shooting things. That matters.

My paragon (who is female) is driven by protecting her home and friends she is not willing to betray her beliefs in order to complete her mission...and she is flawed (I gave her the Sole Survivor\\slaver back story) and pushes past her trauma do her job :innocent:
My renegade (who is male) is cold blooded son of a **** and is driven to get the job by any means necessary.they are no friends just pawns no enemies just corpses...if that means killing an innocents working with the Illusive Man as long as it gets his mission completed nothing else matters.
YAY FOR MY FIRST FORUM POST EVER!!!!
