Massive screen tearing

I have just started playing this game and reached Kirkwall. I cannot even move left or right - the screen tearing is massive and horrendous.

It was present in the cutscenes in the prologue, but now is everywhere.

I am using a HD tv and an HDMI cable - but screen tearing is a *software* issue.

Is there anyone having the same issue? I am using the PS3 signature edition.  Deleting data will not help, and will simply lose my downloads.

This is quite significant, the worst I have ever seen - but I did not hear too much about it before...

Anyone else? Or have I got a dud signature edition (not replaceable)...

All this for a luv of Origins...   Image IPB

EDIT: Already posted in tech support...

Wow! I just found a part of this game *without* screen tearing - indoor areas!

I went into the Hightown Chantry and the screen went from horrendous mess to no tearing.

Dammit... y'know if it weren't for this issue, I would actually say DA2 has quite nice graphics, even beginning it six months after release.

I play on a hdtv with a HDMI cable as well (xbox 360 version), though I haven't noticed any "screen tearing". As far as I can tell, everything looks as it should.

Really? This is quite a mess.

kinduva pity... I don't think it is my "copy" as screen tearing is supposed to be specific, and not a disk fault.

PS3 Version has an average of 5.25% Screen Tearing, Where Xbox 360 Has 0.56% Screen Tearing. If you have an Xbox 360 I would return the PS3 Version and get the Xbox 360 version.

Ouch... just... ouch...

I was hoping for a Miracle Cure - but thanks, Revan654.

Do not have another console...

Y'know, it is absolutely hilarious - I spent six months avoiding my sealed copy because of fundamentally horrible reports...

Now that I have opened it, I actually am having *fun*... except the damn thing is so *massively* screen tearing I can barely watch it...

I was expecting a bad game, but a good game that will give me epilepsy? Man... this thing really was a disaster.

I have just never seen graphics go so crazy.

Super-sad, now.

Turn on your V-sync in the options menu it will seriously hamper performance if you do but it will eliminate screen tearing.

I thought that buying a nomal version to replace my "signature edition" may help - the screen tearing is meant to be the worst on those versions...

I have not heard of this "screen tearing" business, but I'm kinda happy I haven't. Sorry you're having trouble, OP.  :crying:

You could try messing with your TV's refresh rate maybe, or your PS3's or your game's if either of those come with such options.

I have heard that if I delete my game data from the Signature edition and install data from the regular edition then I may not have as much screen tearing in my game.

How do I re-download Signature edition rewards if I have to reinstall the game on the Playstation 3? I thought the code was one use only...

I appreciate any help...

You might get a better response if you repost this issue in the PS3 technical help forum...

I thought it was just the XBox forum that was getting ignored by BW devs; sorry to hear that's not the case. I wonder what's up with that...?

Well... funny enough - I just got a prompt answer. Remind me to complain next time... or something?!?

EDIT:

About the download that is... they didn't mention or acknowledge the screen tearing. Funny that.

At least you know there's someone monitoring the forum. Perhaps you'll get your answer soon (crossing my fingers for you).

Wow... some complete *moron* just moved my DRAGON AGE 2 post to the MASS EFFECT forum...

Because that makes sense?

As if utterly fault games aren't enough - even tech support cannot *read*

The code is one-use only, but using it should tie it to your BioWare account (check sidebar --> profile --> registered game content), so you should be able to re-download it by logging back in to your account.

As far as the thread being moved, I'm sure it was just a simple moderator mistake (who are mostly volunteers, not some official tech support people). No need to get all bent out of shape about it.
