I am new to Mass Effect and was wondering if u guys could help me with a question I have. The Reaper IFF mission is were you encounter the character Legion....what I what to know is after this mission, do I have the freedom to roam around or will this mission trigger me having to face the collectors?
Should I get as much as possible done before doing the reaper IFF mission or do I have time to get a lot of stuff done?? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Do all recruiting and loyalty missions before the IFF mission. Only mission you do after the IFF, before the suicide mission is Legion's loyalty.
Not exactly true. You can actually do one other loyalty mission, then pick up Legions loyalty mission, then run it and the game won't trigger the next mandatory mish... in fact, I recommend (just did it last playthrough) to take Legion with you on Tali's Loyalty Mission... aside from the gasps of outrage from the Quarians that you brougght a Geth aboard the flotilla and them insisting it's proof of her guilt, you can actually make a difference in their decisions regarding the war because they are able to SPEAK with a Geth... saying that if the Quarians came to them in peace, and they had good reason to beleive it wasn't a ruse, they would be open to peace. Lots of great insight and, as I said, every playthrough I've done where I"ve told the Quarians "NO DO NOT GO TO WAR WITH THE GETH" and then I get an email saying "We found the evidence, we will go to war and it will be glorous" but the email after having them talk to Legion is very different... I wont' spoil it for you, but it's cool.
Just make sure you save Tali's mission but do all others, then get Legion and wake him up, then don't talk to him past the initial talk. THen head immediately to Tali's mission, then after that talk to Kelly and she'll tell you Legion wants to talk. GO to him, get the mission (and talk to him as much as you want now), then run it immediately, then you are done you've done 2 missions (the max you can do after getting Legion) the next mission will trigger.

My last playthrough had me doing Tali's recruitment mission then Loyalty-mission, then Legions Loyalty-mission between IFF and Relay-missions (as an experiment to see if it was possible) and nobody died...well except for Lilith the colonist you can't save. It has something to do with what you tell Legion after you activate him or if you do his loyalty-mission last or something like that, I can't remember exactly but it is very much possible to have legion on Tali's Loyalty-mission (Xbox360, so obviously no mods).

I thought you could only do one mission after aquiring the IFF, before you activate it, and the crew get abducted..
Yeah, that's cause if the only main story mission you had left to do is Legion's then once you do it it triggers, but if you orchestrate it as I said, you can do 2 mssions, just have to not pick up Legion's mission until after that 1st (which you might still be able to pick it up and do it then do Tali's, but better safe than sorry... I can 100% say my method works, can't say if you do his mission 1st what would happen.)
Also, before you go to get the Reaper IFF make a 2nd save so if you screw up or for some reason it doesn't work as I say, you can go back and try again.

I have typically only saved Legion's mission for after the IFF. The last time though I saved Tali's to do right before Legion's. I activated Legion, then talked to him again to ask about upgrades so I could unlock the Widow. Then I played Tali's mission. Oddly, I did not get the message about "The Reaper IFF is nearly installed...." when you activate the map until after I talked to Legion to unlock his loyalty mission. Some people have made comments in old threads that you can manipulate it such that the crew abduction is never triggered by not talking to various people on the crew. Perhaps there is another trigger that requires all the loyalty missions to have at least been unlocked before the abduction countdown can proceed.
Regarding the email from the Quarians, I have always gotten the same message from Xen saying that she will find a way to continue the research and that humanity won't get any benefit from it since I didn't help her. I think the response you get depends more on what you say to the individual admirals and whether you turn over the evidence. I basically always say at the end of the trial "With respect I didn't defend one of your people, I defended one of mine" as opposed to the other options. Then tell Han'Gerrel off the record what Tali's father had done, tell Zaal'Koris to keep pushing for peace.
I don't really think Legion adds as much to this mission as some have made out. It is a change of pace, but the only 2 things that I find all that interesting was when you ask Legion if peace is possible, and additionally the comical line in front of Xen that "This unit is not available for experimentation."

He is fully voiced on all missions except Horizon.
Not quite. He only has one line on Mordin's recruitment. In fact, Tali is the only "late game" squadmate with responses to all the dialogue triggers on that mission (except for the "Crap, I've caught the virus" one).
