Hi everyone,
I started playing Mass Effect 1 recently, and am unable to complete the game because the galaxy Ilos is in will not pop up. I've read it says you need to have completed all missions on Noveria and Feros, but I have not completed one on each. The one on Noveria is Lorik Qui'in and the one on Feros is Geth Attack. I just leave when I talk to Lorik Qui'in and on Feros I am unable to take the elevator at Zhu's Hope. I think this game is awesome, but am sad I can't finish it. My ship never got grounded after Vermire, even after I talked to the council, so I am unable to talk to Anderson at Flux, and the Pangaea galaxy is never displayed. If anyone knows why this is, that would be great.
Thanks everyone,
runningfire

Have you done Therum? You have to have Liara.

You have to complete all the main missions, Feros, Noveria, Therum, and Virmire. Viremire itself doesn't trigger Illos and the grounding of the Normandy.

looks like your problem is Feros. Geth attack is the one where Fai Dan tells you that the Geth ships has landed, yes? you have to help the colonists defend Zhu's hope by going out and up the stairs and killing ALL geth. even if just one is still there, it keeps the ship attached and quest unfinished. once you keep them all - Geth ship detaches, your journal updates and you can go, talk to Fai Dan again and he'll tell you about exo geni headquarters. once you are done with that and get Liara to scan your brain - she will realize that the conduit is on Ilos. after which, the next time you touch the star map - you trigger the cutscene where you are recalled to Citadel, etc. etc.
with Lorik quiin you only need to come back to him if you didn't get a path to peak 15 in some other way. since you had virmire triggered, it means you did complete main Noveria mission, so I wouldn't worry about that too much.

Yes, I have done Therum and have Liara. I'll go back to Feros and check it out. I thought I already killed all of them, and I got the power cells and all that stuff. So no matter what there should be a way to finish the Geth Attack? Fai Dan was the guy next to the tunnels correct?
Thanks for all the help, I'll update once I try it out.

runningfire, did you ever get to the ExoGeni headquarters? You drive there in the Mako? That's the real quest of Feros. The power cells and stuff is only sidequests!

yea, I just walked through all the tunnels. No geth. I get a runtime error when I enter the elevator. I checked my journal and it says I'm on "Get to Exogeni Headquarters" and there is a check mark next to where it says "Inform Fai Dan".

No, you didn't finish. The tunnels are the side quests. Before the stairs to the tunnels, there's an elevator to the Prothean Skyway. That leads to the Mako and the main Feros quest.
Basically, if you didn't fight the Thorian yet, you didn't finish yet.

I can't take the elevator; every time I walk into the elevator Mass Effect crashes

Then... you have a problem. Not sure how to fix it, but you have to do that. It's one of the major story missions, the end won't trigger until you do it.

good news! I found out what was wrong. Apparently I had a corrupted game cache file and after verifying it on steam, it redownloaded one that wasn't corrupted and now I can finish the mission
Thanks everyone for helping out though. Here are the links just in case someone else runs into the issue:

It is indeed a good game, and the Feros mission in particular is a tough one. Make sure you save every chance you get when you're in the Thorian Lair, it's a serious pain if you die and have to start over again. Protip: lock out the Asari and kill her first. She is a HUGE threat every time she appears. Throwing her off the edge is a particularly satisfying way of killing her, and it's quick too.
You don't necessarily have to kill ALL the geth in that mission though. I've done it multiple times where (on Insanity) I just didn't want to take the time with all the stuff on the bridge and just blew past it. No negative repercussions, so long as you went into the ExoGeni base and took down the ship.
However, on your return trip, you NEED the Mako. If you don't pull up to the colony in it, you have some serious buggy issues... I don't recommend it. Besides the cutscene glitching out and the fight with the first Creeper happening in a very awkward and strange way, afterwards if you put your weapon away your arms are set backwards at a funky angle. Doesn't affect when you're holding your guns at all, or the gameplay, but it still is quite the funny looking bug.
