I specifically remember Dusty Everman saying in one of his posts that having dinner with Kelly does in fact register as a choice/decision by the importer--which makes me wonder: what does that mean for those who are already engaged in a relationship with Kaidan, Ashley, or Liara?

I have heard that (also from Dusty) what happens during the "dinner" fest is basically determined by what you told Kelly at the very beginning of the game. Specifically, whether you told her that you would "catch her" or "embrace her" in response to her comment on getting along with you or something along those lines. If it's the former, then that means a platonic, friend-zone-only relationship; whereupon the latter means more than that. I don't exactly remember what Dusty said, but I'm fairly certain that was the point.

EDIT: I should clarify that I am referring to the dinner invitation, not the other one where she dances for you. In addition, if anyone would like to see Dusty's posts, our good friend Dave of Canada has compiled them here.

I hope if you "romanced" Kelly (i.e. get the option to invite her to your cabin at the end of ME2), that this can carry over to ME3, since Bioware has stated that Kelly will be back. Perosnally, I felt the whole Shepard-Kelly thing was oddly hilarious to watch. Maybe because everything Shepard says to her on the "romance" path could be grounds for a sexual harassment lawsuit. But hey.

I never actually invited Kelly to my cabins after the SM. I only invited her for a friendly dinner and to have her feed my fish. I doubt Liara will be questioning my Shepard about that in ME3.

I'm honestly not expecting anything significant, if at all. Just wondering if that will be brought up between you and your ME1 LI in ME3. It's possible that it won't, and, instead, the reason it is registered has to do with reuniting with Kelly in ME3.

maybe it'll be trail for sexual harassment. Maybe it'll be a few lines of dialogue. Maybe it'll be a conflict with your LI. Maybe it'll be that she becomes a fully fledged romance in ME3. A lot of things are possible.

That's why my Shepard always keep a professional relation with her and nothing more. After all there's no way I can trust gingers, they have no soul.
