Do you know how many credits it costs to get Prejek Paddle Fish? 8000 Cr! Each! And I've always wanted one... since I was a child."

Kelly: "What???"

Shepard: "Here we are in 2186, and they put a fish tank with self filtering water on a 'state of the art' starship and neglect to put a 10 CR feeding timer on it, but I guess that was a 100000 CR feeding timer the way contractors overcharge on military vessels. Still you'd think one of the gift shops would have stocked an aftermarket one so Rupert could install it."

Liara: "Mmmm hmmm." tapping her foot.

Kelly: "You (b****/ba*****)!!"

Shepard: "Kelly. Think. If one of those fish died before we went through the Omega 4 relay, and I had to go back to Illium for to replace it, you wouldn't even be standing here. You would have been goo and in a pipe on the way to that... reaper thing. Be thankful for that."

Liara: "Shepard!" shaking her head with a facepalm.

Shepard: "Besides. Liara has that... blue thing going on. She's a genius. I've known her longer. I head over heels in love with her, and she's a total bada**. I'm sorry. I gotta go with Liara. I thought that was clear when I invited her to the Normandy, and we went up to my cabin."

Kelly: "F*** you, Shepard. I will take your messages, but don't bother even talking to me." and she turns and stomps out.

Shepard: looks at Liara and shrugs

Liara: *slaps Shepard* "I ought to flay you alive."

Shepard: "I know. Are we still going to make all those blue babies?"

Liara: "I don't know. I might need a little incentive."

Thanks to this post, I now have a room full of people looking at me oddly for giggling too loudly.

Good thing is you have to work on it a little if you intend to invite her up. If you just keep choosing the options on the right side of the wheel and ask her about your messages, you won't be able to get her to have dinner with you.

Hate to say it, but so would I.
Personally, that'd be the one job that would change Kelly's role as a Yeoman from redundant to indispensable. I mean, she practically stands there all day.

I wouldn't worry about consequences of having a dinner with Kelly. All evidence suggest it was just that - a dinner with pleasury conversation between two (flirty or not) friends. As long as you don't accept her proposal and invite her to your cabin, you are perfectly safe.

Yes and yes. Be friendly toward her and you'll eventually hang out for dinner (which isn't necessarily romantic), after that she'll mention the aquarium and ask if you'd like her to keep an eye on your fish while you're away.

There's the statement she said about being worried after the CS trap? Do I have to choose the "what about me?' line? (I don't want a romantic get-together altho I see Kelly isn't really meant as a LI, I think. Also, from other posts, it's just dinner. How nice do I have to be?  So much trouble for an auto-feeder) When does this dinner occur? Before Omega 4 Relay?

I am going for the Kelly romance, and I'm firmly on the romance path. I invited her up for dinner, I said I'd do more than catch her, I asked if she liked aliens. She was saying "good luck out there shepard" after I talked to her.I'm on PS3, and after I did Kasumi's loyalty mission, She reverted back to "I'll be here if you need anything". I have no other LIs. Is the change in her goodbye a problem?

If you've consistently flirted with her, you should be fine. I don't claim to be 100% sure, but I wouldn't put too much thought into what she says after you ask her for updates.
