You have to look at it both way:
1)Players complained of talking to every companion in the camp and then they had NOTHING to talk about it for the rest of the game.
2)Players that prefer to talk to a character when something happen a la DAA or Da2.
I would love to have the option to talk to the Li when I want, if is in the house to invite him back to the room too... play cards?

If we're housed in a town but only for a short while the local inn/tavern seems like a good place. If we're on the move then a camp would make more sense. If we're going to be stationed in a city for the long term perhaps a well liked tavern or even invite them over to your house to speak.

I also liked the party camp music, but that wasn't exclusive to Origins. It was just a good song.

I really do miss the partycamp in DA:2 and it feels a bit awkward visiting a companion on their home when most of the times they dont have anything to say at all.
Also agreeing with the rest of you that the feature to be able to manage your whole party and its equipments was highly useful.

In Origins, I could do everyone all at once, and then sell everything left over.
In DA2, I either had to hang out at one of those gather your party stations, and cycle though every companion (with load times in rounds), or else just keep everything in my inventory until the next time I used each character. Which typically ended up with me just selling everything under 2 stars whenever my inventory got full. Which sucked, as the stars change depending on what class character is looking at it, and the stars aren't always accurate.

This. I don't care if there's a camp, but there should be a way to do inventory management without having to actually have the person in your party. Not everywhere, that wouldn't make sense, but at least from some centralized location, where you also have access to party storage, and preferably in a place with a merchant.
Nothing was more tiresome than having to haul items out of storage, go the Hanged Man, cycle through folks, and then run up to the shady character upstairs to sell EVERYTHING.
P.S.: That guy had a good business strategy. I don't know where he got the money, but he could easily have outfitted a small army with gear that was ever-so-slightly worse than what I ended up using.

Ultimately.. if the story in DA3 has us traveling I would prefer a camp (maybe with some personal tents as well)

I do admit though that I think they could have done a little bit of a better job with the companion system in DA 2, didn't feel like it had as much depth as DA:O even though it sort of had the right idea.
So say maybe there is a DA game with a Darkspawn invasion and you are a Grey Warden in charge of a fortress that is meant to stop the Darkspawn from invading...then you get your companions to be in your keep/fortress.
Or if there is a DA game similar to DA 2, where you live in a city or village whilst on your quest/journey/experience, and all your companions 'live' (I use that word loosely cause like I said, I think DA 2 could have done a better job in some ways with the companion home bases) in that city or village in different areas of it.

And for that Dragon Age romance element, the dresser drawer next to your bed contains the "small clothes" of your other conquests. And for the devs to have even more fun with it, click on any trophy and you can reply the highlight real of the battle or ...

Of course how great this theoretical new camp would be would depend on just how much they bring back from the Origins style. The ability to arm all of your companions from there should be a given but if the dialogue system is also like that of Origins than it becomes twice as fun as the home base system in DA2.

I did not care for party camp. Inviting Love Interest X to your tent with everyone right there was just...weird. Same with being able to have deep personal discussions in the middle of a dungeon with your other companions standing there twiddling their thumbs. Odd. Wrong.

I'm in the damn Deep Roads, and I need to set up camp, maybe I'm going to a canyon and there isn't a river. Or maybe there just isn't a damn river over here. That'd be nice.

They actually had this in DA:O, where Arl Eamon's estate in Denerim and Redcliffe castle became temporary party hubs.
