Garrus...his the most qualified and capable...he was born to be a Spectre.

Too bad he just seems to want to do his own thing. He really should try to reapply for the Spectres but he seems to have a real problem with authority.

I'll go against the grain and tell you why I wouldn't make each squad member a Spectre...

Ashley: Human nationalist, making her motives questionable when working to protect GALACTIC intrests.
Garrus: Unprincipled. As fierce a combatant he may be, Garrus lets moral grey-areas and such situations get the better of him.
Tali: More people die under her lead than Zaeed.
Liara: The fact that an asari archeologist was a ME1 squadmate, next to the likes of trained marines and a krogan bounty hunter, was enough of a stretch.
Wrex: Clearly short-sighteded, didn't want to destroy Saren's genophage facility in hopes of a cure restoring krogan numbers.
Miranda: Naiive, shows a disregard for ethics like her employer.
Jacob: A security guy, at best.
Mordin: Squishy.
Zaeed: Good individual soldier, but council business is probably above him.
Kasumi: Kleptomaniac.
Jack: ...
Grunt: Again, ...
Thane: No accountability ("my body did this...")
Samara: Rigid code.
Vega: Jury is out.
Kaidan: Congradulations, Commander Alenko. You are the one squadmate that I deem qualified for the role of Spectre! =]

That's a good, well thought out list...though I still wonder if Kaidan maybe too Paragon to make the tough calls? I really like Kaidan, but I do wonder if he would have it in him to...hmmm...lets say, Blow 300,000 people sky high?...even if it is for the greater good?

Something tells me Kaidan would not be able to make that decision. I also feel Kaidan would not be able to come up with decisions fast enough.

That's true...he certainly needs to learn to reign in his hot headedness...but there is an enormous amount of potential there.

I agree...I think he would choke on the hard decisions and ponder consequences for too long.

I'd say Thane and Samara would be the most safe bets. They're both absolutely ruthless, ultra capable in their respective specializations, and they're also used to working alone.

Once I remember Nihlus saying some Spectres work in pairs, I'd say Kasumi.  She's level-headed and articulate while still having serious ninja and combat skills.  She cares about people - both human and alien - but isn't naive or overly idealistic in her views.  Can my Shepard have a partner please?  :innocent:

Ashley.

I think she's a strong capable soldier who's been held back for far too long in the past and deserves to be given greater responsibilities. Plus the experience would probably change her for the better and make her more mature, plus it would mean that after being sidelined completely in the second game, she would finally actually have a large prominent role in the story again.

Hey look, I got my wish.

Mordin. Spectres were modeled after the salarian STG.

Actually, I was going to put that one in there, not sure why I didn't. If I'd have any concern with Kaidan, it's whether he's "too nice" to be a Spectre. Ultimately, that's more because I haven't seen it, doesn't mean he's not capable of it.

To that end, I've always seen Kaidan as a "speak softly, carry a big stick" kind of a guy. Soft-spoken, but he toughs it out through migraines in the military, and keeps his implants in part for stronger biotic attacks. He killed his teacher in a fit of rage, enough to scare his lover-girl from ever speaking to him again! He's got a fire in his belly, IMO.

Garrus. While he may have a problem with red tape, very little of it would hinder him as a Spectre, thus, I can see him excelling in such a role.

Garrus. He's already batman, think what he could do with better funding.

Great nickname for Garrus, fits him so well.

Might as well start calling him 'Bruce' from now on..

Kasumi: She is already good at being a discreet thief and that is perfect for a spectre.

1.) Garrus is more of the punisher than batman since, y'know he uses guns and kills.

as for the topic the VS. they stick with the Alliance and council even through the BS and earn the promotion. But other than them Either Jacob or Miranda because, on the contrary of the VS, they attacked the problem head on and didn't care about looking nice as they did it.

But would she want to be...I just can't see being a Spectre as something Kasumi would volunteer for.

I'd say Garrus then again he doesn't seem quite ready for it yet. The reason I feel this is because the whole no red tape thing strongly appeals to him. Not saying he will get carried away but some laws are in place for a reason :P or to be broke.

Of course I'd want Garrus to be a Spectre, but my problem with it is... I don't know if he'd be willing to accept it. In ME1, you have to swear to uphold the Council's will and all that. By ME2, I get the feeling Garrus isn't too impressed by the "official" parts of the galaxy. I'm inclined to think he'd tell them to stuff their offer where the stars don't shine and go off and do his own thing again.

Still! Garrus would be an awesome Spectre. His problem is just that he doesn't get any chances to do awesome stuff. I may or may not be biased by fanfiction portrayals of him here...

Zaeed, as he already got expirience for any possible situation he ends up in. ;)
