Went DAO --> Awakening --> Golem (toughest boss fight in the game imo) ---> Witch Hunt

My expectations were pretty darn low after hearing all the rage about Witch Hunt...but man, was I happy with the ending.

*SPOILER*

I played a somewhat powerhungry blood mage throughout the game.  I "did" Zeveran for the achievment, and then romanced Morrigan shortly afterwards.  For whatever reason, I chose to keep her somewhat underpowered ring for the entirity of the game and I was quite pleased to see the conversation options made available because of it.

It was nice that I was able to go though the portal in the end with her.  I'm a big fan of closure.  Makes me wonder where all the hate came from.  All the DLCs have been rather short, so I can't imagine why that aspect would have been shocking.

I guess if you chose a different path prior to the final confrontation, it would have made for a rather awkward finish.  Ah well...time to think about another playthrough.

Keep hearing dwarf noble is the way to go.

I also enjoyed it. The ring conversation was one of my favorite parts, and Finn was great.

My
mage went into the Eluvian with her, so it was nice to see him get a
happy ending. I think it works well with that origin, since you don't
really have any family or friends to leave behind (like Fergus/Soris,
Cyrion, Shianni, etc.) other than your Origins or Awakening companions.

On my first runthrough with my Dalish, I experimented with the final dialogue options:

Me: Ooh, an "attack" option. I bet it'll be a boss fi-
Warden: The murderknife strikes again! *shank*
Me: :o -ght.
*Morrigan falls through mirror, sad music plays*
Me: I am a horrible person. *reloads*

Most of the hate comes from the false marketing of "Morrigan's secrets revealed!" when she basically tells you nothing and refuses to answer any questions, appearing for the last 10 minutes of the DLC with naught but a vague warning about Flemeth.

Plus, people who romanced her were lucky to get closure before WH was patched; it didn't recognise most romance flags back then.

Ah.  This makes sense, and I agree that would be a downer.  Can't say I'm a fan of the DLC model, but I didn't jump on-board until the ultimate edition was released, so all the extras might as well be part of one game for me.

I imagine I'll wait until DA2 goes ultimate before giving it a spin as well, though I'm pretty bummed that the Baldur's Gate tactical gameplay was replaced for a yet another "slash-and-mash" Diablo-clone approach.

It should have been an expansion pack, not a DLC.

@MKDAWUSS - A full-blown expansion the size of Awakening would have taken much longer to make, and I'm uncertain that something based on Morrigan could have been made any more interesting than it was.

@TheReignmaker - With the exception of Awakening, Stone Prisoner and Soldier's Peak (the latter two I got with special edition of DA:O) I didn't buy any of the DA:O DLCs. If you're not a fan of DA2's combat, definitely wait for an ultimate version because there is a lot of combat.

(How are there even people outside at night in Kirkwall with all those mobs waiting to drop out of the sky and tear any passer by a new one?)

I was displeased with the recycled locations used throughout Witch Hunt. I mean, would it really have been so hard to create unique environments for at least a few parts of the damn DLC?

Also, I really liked Ariane and Finn. It's too bad we didn't get to know them more - I think they're great characters. I hope they'll return in a future installment of DA.

As for the not-so-epic conclusion with Morrigan - I went through the Eluvian with her on my original run, but now I'm debating whether or not I should simply kill her next time. She and Flemeth are a threat as long as both still live - especially if the Warden is dumb enough to take part in Morrigan's ritual.

My Warden has no way of knowing that. He only knows that she is a cruel, manipulative witch who conspired from the beginning to use him and his companions to carry out an evil ritual - one that would effectively render their efforts to end the Fifth Blight utterly useless.

He knows her to be a traitor and a threat, and feels that she must be eliminated. Whether she survives or not is something the Warden won't know until much later (if he learns of it at all).

Of course, all of that is from a role-playing perspective, anyway.

They talked about answering questions and it didn't answer anything and only asked more. It was basically an advertisement for DA2. It lead you to believe that you'd get answers in DA2, at least that's what most people assumed. Of course we didn't any answers in DA2 either. We got two nonimportant standalone stories and fuster cluck of a story that will lead into DA3. So maybe which hunt was an advertisement for DA3 I honestly don't know anymore, I'd rather just forget it happened.

This is because most people hate Morrigan.

As for a new game.

Dwarf Female Noble who stays in a romance with Zevran is very entertaining. Try using completly differant characters then you did before since you really actualy dont need a tank/healers it just makes it easier. Herbalism is all you need.
Warrior is slightly better then Rogue stat wise though.
though if you really want a unusual experince try Warrior Archer, its actualy rather powerful especialy in Awakening when your Arrow of Slaying is hitting for several thousand damage. (FYI you can play a Warrior Archer tank even)
