I just got a controller to use for mass effect 1, i just installed xpadder and programmed the buttons. The controller works for the computer, but it won't work when I turn the game on. What could be the issue?

Controllers arent supported in ME1. You can either speak to Xpadder suppotr, or have a look at this thread.

Okay, what you must do is set your buttons from xpadder to the keys you use on the keyboard to play mass effect, that is it, it doesnt matter if the game does not support controllers thats what xpadder is made for, indigo prophecy for example does not support 360 controller, this bypasses that.
You know how to use xpadder right ? Like you set the directional buttons on your pad to W A S D, and right trigger to mouse button 1 for movement and shooting respectiveley ?
