It's really hard to see how CQC would be practical, given the different classes and their unique abilities. Why would adepts go for a fist fight when they can just warp bomb Leng to death?

I don't want to jump the gun on him, but he sounds like a total Villain-Sue. He's an N7 marine who's suddenly relevant and who killed a krogan with a knife (seriously?) but also happens to be working for Cerberus and apparently can chew through rope and escape a healthy man even when he has two severe leg injuries. How many more excuses do they have to make this guy relevant?

Maybe he wears a bullet-deflecting device like Fortune from MGS2 that he invented by crapping on a pinwheel. Maybe he can stop time by holding his breath like Guldo from DBZ. Or maybe he can jump from heights of over 2 miles without injury due to some ability we discover that he has where his legs automatically brace for impacts?

There's so many potentially great ideas for boss characters and minor antagonists along the way and we'll have to deal with this guy for probably a major portion of the time? Lame.

But all classes come with new heavy melee attacks so there is that..

 Basically that's what I think the Kai Leng encounter should be like.

I mean, I didn't read the books yet, but I get the feeling that BioWare tries to throw everything that can attract anyone into ME3. We have already:
- Space swords ALSO with the psi-sword counterpart
- space shields
- mechs
- turrets
- Shepard operating some kind of Troika/HMG variation

and a space ninja. All those things are cool, but the mix of all the cool things together can sometimes feel less than it is expected to.

Also, you've seen so many super-duper-agile ninja vs main soldier-type* protagonist duels in fiction, that it is anything but a fresh idea.

* I know, Shepard can be blah blah blah, but the Soldier is the most common, default class, and all the cutscenes also don't give a hint about his class, and s/he  kinda acts like Soldier

That's exactly what's happening. Datapad, cushions, etc. The momentum of the assassin brought some glass in, but even that is now going up. 

Uh...this shot is in vacuum. The papers, glass (probably from the cabinet), and data pads are being sucked into space.

how many folks played 'the bourne conspiracy' game? i did....it wasn't great but it was fun....anyways....the last level could be a nice KL fight....it involved the regular combat system with duck n cover shooting....then once your enemy's power was down to a level you engaged hand to hand for a bit and so on....it was quite entertaining and challenging...

No, in the book Mass Effect: Retribution it says that while he has had some training, he hasn't practiced in a long time. He's nowhere near the level of a Shepard, Kai Leng, etc...

Nobody is denying that KL is top of the line, he was like that even in the Alliance. No doubt the illusive man has convinced him to undergo cybernetic enhancements and maybe get Reaper implants to up his game.
But the KL from from retribution is NOT stronger than Thane, or even Sheperd.
