Hello to all,

So I've been experiencing a strange issue. I have a dedicated server I plan to run a persistant world on - in the meantime I just run test mods on it and such. It's got:

Windows Server 2008 R2 64bit
160 GB Hard drive
2 GB of RAM
VIA Nano processor 1.6 GHz

My personal computer that I do all my development on is rather powerful:

Windows 7 Professional 64bit
120 GB Vertex 3 SSD
1 TB Green Drive
+ a bunch of external hard drives

16GB of DDR3 RAM
EVGA Nvidia GeForce GTX 570 HD 1280 MB
Intel quad-core i7 3.4 GHz

Now I'm aware the toolset has all sorts of problems, from corruptions to crashes and so on, so I try to back up the modules as often as possible to limit permanent losses.

The problem is that sometimes the dedicated server won't run a particular module. I'll launch the nwserver executable, configure all necessary parameters, and then select the module to try to load. The module name will gray out for a little bit (as it should), and then re-appear, allowing me to select a different module, with the status still displaying:

"Idle, Login disabled." as opposed to the "Loading" and then the "Server active, login at will".

Now some of you will say it's a hak/tlk//module problem - I'm pretty sure it's not.

I've made sure everything is in the right place, the server *will* load a particular module, and then after I edit that same module in the toolset (adding more areas to it for instance, nothing that would affect custom content) and reupload it to the dedicated server, it will refuse to load it.
In this particular case, we're talking about a directory module about 250MB in size, with around 15 areas.

My first guess was obviously corruption, but the toolset didn't crash or anything when I made these modifications, it seemed to save and exit without any issues.

My next guess was a RAM issue - but does that sound like its too much to handle for 2GB of RAM? I should note that the haks are 1.34 GB in size total, with no single piece being larger than 500MB. And if it is too much to handle, would NWServer simply not loading the mod be the outcome?

If it is a toolset corruption issue - what corrupt files would prevent the nwserver from loading it? The strange thing is that my local version of NWServer on my development box loads it no problem! Is there a difference between the dedicated version of NWServer (perhaps stricter in its ruleset?) and the NWN2 game installed version?

In any case, any insight or answers into this matter would be of great help.

Thank you all in advance for reading, and hopefully answering !

Update:

Found the solution! It seems that it was neither corruption of the file, nor a memory problem after all!

The problem lies in the fact that the NWN2 Dedicated Server creator only has support for the Mask of the Betrayer expansion, and when created the dedicated server files, I declined to include the campaign data (apparently this seems to be necessary to run expansion modules).

In any case, after I ran the NWN2 Dedicated Server Creator once more, I had it include the campaign data, but it only went as far as Mask of the Betrayer. So I manually added the campaign data for Storm of the Zehir, as well as copied all the contents of the "Data" folder just to be safe.

The result was nearly 4GB of Dedicated Server files, which I then uploaded (painstainkingly) to my dedicated server. Now it works like a charm!
