the argument about Ashley just wearing her off duty clothes doesn't jibe. why? because since then we saw the images of alternate appearance pack from collector's edition and guess what? Ashley is wearing recolor of her demo outfit while Kaidan and Vega are wearing armor.
also.
practical people tend to go for the best, strongest protection they can find, afford and use. best weapons. best technology. you want to have an edge over people you'll be fighting.
again, comparing Kaidan and Ashley. they are supposed to be mirrors of each other. same duties. same spectre status. if Ashley's armor is the best, how come Kaidan is not wearing it? and then of course there's Shepard him/herself. wearing armor. like a full out armor.
how can you insist that Ashley's new look is anything other then attempt to sexualize her? is beyond me.
I don't mind Ashley's new outfit...

Should you ever wish to, the offer is extended.
Then you are admitedly ****ing about something that might happen. AwesomeAnd like I said so many times, Ash in full combat armor would be awesome. But still, there's no guarantee. What I'm doing here is assuming the worst case scenario. If I'm wrong, then yay! Good times in ME3.
Forums aren't places to **** on. Its just that so many idiot posters thought it grand to just **** and moan about crap and bioware devs have to actually search for reasonable arguments. Then what do you suggest? As far as I know, the forums are pretty much the only resource people have if they want to impact game design decisions. If I b*tch loud enough and get enough people to b*tch with me, I may be able to impose my will upon the mighty Bioware.
Not really. I was calling yo uan ass because you basically said you were since you admitted to ****ing and moaningsAs for the ass comment... I get that a lot. Must be my stunning looks, superior intellect, and charming personality makin' y'all jealous.
What did you expect? Liara in ME1 realized her mother was working with someone who wanted to destroy the galaxy and was killed. She also had to kill a lot more people than usual. Also the Normandy the one place she likely had some friends was destroyed. She attempted to save shepard and eventually lost another friend who she loved and had to give shepard away to Cerberus. That type of **** will change someone who is basically a civillian and not hardened by fighting.See, there's character development and there's WTF WRITERS. Dramatic and sudden changes in a character's personality that have little context are the latter. I did expect Liara to grow, but suddenly she's a white collar mobster? Lol wut. Thankfully, LotSB "rescued" her character, providing both context and character development. It made Psycho!Liara make sense, then gave her an opportunity to grow into a much stronger (and less crazy) individual.
Liara is the only character that has even come close to a large amount of personality change. Even then it was for the best.I admit that Kaidan/Ashley isn't going to be the exact same person we knew on ME1. In fact, it's silly to think they will be. But that person does not have to be a complete rewrite of their character. It would be a strong disservice to change the essence of who they are. And hell, maybe the outfit doesn't. But if it's a sign of what to come... Well, sh*t. There goes one of my favorite squadmates.
I never said that.WELL DUH. But they don't have to be ridiculously oversexed to be good, either.
They might. After all, the industry still assumes they're the ones playing all the videogames.
Now, I'm not saying the media doesn't paint unrealistic expectations for men. However, I might have to do some research here to find out to what extent. As it is, it seems that the "regular guy" is waaaaay more common than the "regular girl."
Its common knowledge that women are sexualized in media. My problem with some people is that they think we haven't progressed even though things have been a lot worse for women in the past and it will likely change in the future.

When was that ever implied? You seem to be missing the point that Ashley was attractive before being made into ubiquitous video game TNA.who would know wrote...
The point is that just because a character is attractive doesn't mean its bad.
Read Admiral Cheez's earlier post.
Since you have such undeniable proof of that I'm assuming that you work for bioware.Give it up already man. Ash's outfit is her equivalent to Kaidan's armor. They both feature in the same DLC appearance pack. And the reason Ash has been singled out to be the sexy soldier instead of the practical soldier, like every other one of her male peers, is because she is female.
Edit: Just so you know I'm actually going to do the logical thing and wait until we see more videos and more of Ash's armor like I suggest you do.

Its ARMOR. It isn't impossible for Bioware to add in the armor a couple months before the game comes out. Like I said I'm waiting for more videos to come out not a few weeks before launch.iakus wrote...

alternate appearance pack that comes with collector's edition. Vega... is wearing heavy armor.
Kaidan... is wearing heavy armor.
Liara... is wearing recolor of her shadow broker armor (and we know its not civilian clothes for her, because we saw her in 2 different dresses in civilian situations)
Ashley... recolor of her rescue from earth outfit
why are we still saying that its not her equivalent of armor?
bioware has claimed that Ashley does get alternate armor that actually looks like armor. I'm assuming they are talking about something like loyalty outfits from ME2. we have yet to see any sight of it.

Not it isn't. I'm saying it was worse to inform others that no one has been sitting on there asses doing nothing until today. I still think adopting a "wait and see" approach is the best thing to do right now. I see no reason to get worried about this issue yet since BioWare hasn't denied that Ashley will have "appropriate" combat attire.iakus wrote...

I worry because "appropriate" is a highly subjective term.
To me "appropriate" for Ash means something that resembles FemShep's armor. Or at least Tela Vasir's
To Bioware, who knows what that means. Especially given how the female squadmates dressed in ME2.
Edit: A couple of the males ones too, to tell the truth.

when this was leaked, and the fandom inevitably ****ed, Casey said that the image isn't the final production and that is when he revealed that Ash has a full set of armor.
Plus, Vega has casual wear AND battle armor. So, I'm going to go ahead and assume that the Alt. Appearance Pack gives Ash white casual gear and different (unseen) armor.

this wasn't leaked. it was deliberately unveiled once preorders for collector edition became available.. you know, to show people what they would be buying. and I ask you again. why put Kaidan, Liara and Vega in armor if that alternate appearance is Ashley's casual outfit?
/puts tinfoil hat on
what I think happened is that they thought it would get a better reception then it did, concidering Miranda and all and some of innitial responce to Ashley's unveil that went something like: "damn, I'm gonna go back and save her on virmire, she's hot now"
but they post it and people start realizing that no, that outfit she was in a vid is NOT her casual look and the fallout begins and bioware goes, oh crap and they say- oh don't worry we're giving her armor, all the while frnaticaly scrambling to figure out some armor design for Ashley.
I don't think the armor exists. we might get it though if we **** loudly enough and show that, we do actualy kinda like Ashley equaly armored as her male counterparts."
