Oh man, I remember playing this game when it came out, the 600X480 or whatever it was, was not bad at the time. But going back to it years later, oh my god, it was hard. I had no idea you could use the widescreen mod for Vanilla BG. I thought it was just for BGTuTu.

Call me crazy, but I really do prefer playing Baldurs Gate 1 in its original engine. It was just the resolution that was making it somewhat difficult, just isn't enough room to see much.

Does anyone else use a higher resolution  for vanilla BG 1? Or do you just play it with its standard resolution? Or do you just use BGtutu and ONLY tutu? I pretty much made this thread out of excitement, lol. It is just so much easier and much better playing this in at least 800X600, cheers to the modders.

That is what I like about PC gaming, MODS=Godsend! Peace

Oh yeah?  I guess your eyes just happened to bypass the part of the paragraph that asks a question. Maybe next time you will actually respond to the topic at hand instead of making such an assinine post in the future. Honestly you're better off not even responding to the topic at hand.

Thank you and have a good day.

If you made it intentionally, what's the point since it's basically asking the very same question (+ 1 minor detail that might have been asked in the other thread as well)?

I'm still waiting on my 4-1 BG. I didn't play the originial during the time period they came out because I was inbetween computer states then. But I have had this XP for six years now and figure I might as well start playing some of these games that were made for the XPs instead.

I was wondering about the tutu on whether I should install it or not. I read somewhere that using the tutu for BG1 might cause problems. I'll probably just play it with the standard resolution & engine.

The infamous Beregost crash was a serious problem that's been nagging the community for years (causing random crashes when or after visiting Beregost). However it's been solved 2 years ago:

Just install the Easy Tutu Hotfix found on the same page as the Easy Tutu downloads (usoutpost31.com/easytutu) as the first mod after Tutu itself.

I play on Vanilla, including vanilla BG 1 resolution. The resolution is so low, I don't even SEE my party, as I am at the destination point most of the time. It could use higher resolution. On the plus side, I see better detail on my avatars than I do in BG II. Give and take I guess.

I have on occasion loaded up the Mission Pack save for nostalgia, but it doesn't last long, the slow walking speeds and lack of diverse combat makes me quit, still it's nice and reminds me of being young. So I always play Tutu, I wish I could use the widescreen mod but my monitors resolution is 1920x1200 which would make gameplay a little difficult to say the least.

You do know that you don't have to set the WS mod to your monitor's native resolution? I play the B-Gates at 1680x1050, which works as a suitable compromise for me.

Yeah but when I last tried it last time my scale to fit option with my graphics card was a bit dodgy and would always enlarge everything even if I wanted it to be a smaller resolution. But I tried it again today (years later) and it works! The scale is maintained and I have more or less the same height but greater width.
