Good post Rojahar.

I'm just trying to bring forward the issue of no controller support for Bioware games on PC when I see practically every other PC game with 360 controller support in addition Bioware has their games on consoles, and Microsoft actually makes it easy to build a game for PC with the controller option. The mind boggles.

I had this on my mind for ages, I dont go to gaming exhibitions, but I do participate in e-social media. The options im pursuing

emails to Bioware = ignored
twitter
facebook
reddit
youtube
gaming websites & forums

I just need to find something creative enough to grab the attention of the right people to support this issue.

Again I'm also saying. Don't tell me to take my money and buy a console if I really want to Play Bioware games on 360 controller. Don't tell me to just use Keyboard and Mouse. Don't offer alternative key mapping for controllers tried those not my cup of tea.

Bioware just needs too bring their standards up to par with the competition.

It's not released under Games for Windows, so x360 gamepad support isn't mandatory.

Some people connect their pc with a hd-television. Its somehow hard to combine couch gaming with the use of mouse and keyboard...So the request is understandable.

I don't understand, though. Do people not know how to Google? Mapping keys to the controller is not some amazing feat of SCIENCE or anything.

This is pretty low on my list of important features.

Yeah.

Much more important than that is high resolution textures, AA and AF options, HUD options and Dx10/11 support.

Well, I'd love if it I could hook my desktop up to my plasma screen TV and play it on the couch with a simple, hand-fitting controller. Keyboard and mouse simply don't feel right when I'm on my couch. Who cares about precision when I'm playing a non-competitive game, and can fare quite well with a gamepad anyway? I hardly ever use hotkeys as it is; radial menu ftw.

I'd like a simple, comfortable solution for playing the game on PC. I don't necessarily like sitting at a switchboard when I play cinematic games, just as I don't like using a keyboard and mouse when I'm playing racing games (racing accesories ftw). Why should I listen to the droning, elitist commenters here who think the only "logical" way to play a game on a PC is with a mouse/keyboard combo? Seriously, what's wrong with wanting an ergonomical, comfortable solution to playing a computer game?

You can't just plug a gamepad into your comp and map keys in a game. The game needs support, and if it isn't released under GFW, that support has reason to be absent. You plug in the controller, game ignores it.

If you mean those keyboard mapping programs though, and the only one I remember by name is called xPadder, then why? Why should we exhaust ourselves by doing that?

Shut up and use a keyboard and mouse.

Yeah, I too never heard of small, portable tables and desks and wireless peripherals.

And while I rarely am serious, no, lack of pad support is not disturbing nor insane. If you are playing a shooter on a PC you don't use pad, you use a mouse, only type of game I agree should suppert pads without exceptiosn are racing games and simulators. I understand you'd like to use your favourite controlling device, but you don't drop a penumatic hammer to use a stone pick-axe - mouse is superior controller when it comes to aim, that's why PC doesn't need autoaim and that's why most users who are used to controllers can't handle a game without autoaiming when using one (me included - I can't imagine myself play a console game without autoaim).

PC players are familiar with the entire alphabet.
Xbox players are only familiar with 4 letters.
PS3 players are only familiar with simple shapes and primary colours.

I see what you did there.

You don't have to explain this to me.

Because it's a very unimportant feature that the end-user can acquire relatively simply if they really want it, thus saving development cycle time that can be used on other things that many users will welcome instead of only a few that can get it by other means.

If a random pc player is not smart enough to learn the entire alphabet, does he deserve to be left out?

I happen to think this is all moot because the controls on PC are phenomenally better than controller controls anyways. It'd be even better if the controls weren't simply ported, but even so, still better. <-- Not subjective!

It's like he's asking BioWare to help him drive in reverse on a highway.

Actually, this is the very definition of subjective.

Some people like mouse+keyboard, others prefer gamepads.  For FPS/TPS games, I vastly prefer gamepads...and yet I seem to be in the minority on this one.  Just as I prefer a trackball over a mouse.

For an RTS or an isometric RPG (remember those?), I wouldn't want to try one with a gamepad.

No, that's objective fact. That's the very reason why FPS games have no cross-platform servers, because best console veterans would be obliterated by PC casuals only because mouse and keyboard are superior way of moving around and aiming than analog sticks when playing a shooter game.
And it's not about prefference - I respect that you like to play shooters with pads,  I don't have to understand it. You just can't aim as fluently with a pad as you can with a mouse.
