Anyway. Farscape, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Babylon 5, Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, The X-Files, Fringe, Firefly. You throw some references in from any of these shows and I'm sold.

I'd argue that most of Mass Effect is a reference to Babylon 5.

I am surprised and happy to see so many people in this thread mentioning Farscape. It's excellent!

I'm so happy it's managed to live on in the sci-fi realm several years after ending. Some great shows get buried in the rubble of time.

Needless to say based on my avatar, I agree with you.

Hmph, should be Dominar Rygel the XVI of the Hynerian Empire, but I suppose Crichton is serviceable. ;)

There's a whole lot of Babylon 5 in there, absolutely.

I stopped watching Lost after they killed Charlie.

That's unfortunate.  I agree that the first three seasons were far superior to the last three, but they were still good.

Some crazy guy in a bowtie running around the citadel yelling about not blinking. I'd buy the game based on that alone.

It is so funny you mentiond blinking. I atually memeorized that entire quote. I whip it out from time to time to mess with people.

From what I've read, it's better then Battlestar Galactica, that is a massive achievement in itself. I believe it kind of started the "modern" CGI (in TV anyway).

Babylon 5 is terrific. Top five show for me.

Its first season is very rocky though. Most of its worst outings are in the first half of that first season. Get past the mud and you're in for green fields of serialized dramatic sci-fi with great characterization and timeless space battles. Strong message behind the series too.

Oh yeah, and I'm your nemesis John Crichton, DTKT, so you know the information in my brain is priceless.

If bioware makes a nod toward this show in the game,I will have their babies.

+1 Farscape.... huge points if one of the main VAs is done by Claudia Black.

Well she might not have been what people would class as a main character in ME2, but I think we'll be seeing more of Admiral Daro'Xen vas Moreh in ME3 and maybe Matriarch Aethyta as well, so yeah she'll most likely be there

There are a few reasons Tali's loyalty mission is one of the major highlights of the story so far for me. One of them is the ridiculously cool fact that you've got Simon Templeman, Claudia Black and Adam Baldwin all in the same friggin' room together.

Claudia Black... ah, unsurprisingly Aeryn Sun was totally my impossible adolescent crush to end all impossible adolescent crushes. When I met her while working at a "Save Farscape" panel at Comic-Con my heart skipped six beats.

I'm guessing you romanced Morrigan.  Just a hunch.

Frank Herbert's Dune.

I already have velocity dependent shields and giant space-worms, though, so I'll be OK without any more.

Even not having seen Farscape at that point, I couldn't resist Claudia's charm.  What reasonable being could.

This is headed into offtopic territory, but honestly I think that's one of the main reasons DA2 was disliked.  DA:O was so character driven and contained so many interesting personalities, Morrigan being the gem even among gems, that's what people expected for the second one.  DA2 just didn't have any charismatic characters like Morrigan or Alistair; Varric was probably the closest but he couldn't shoulder the whole thing himself.  People talk about "dumbing down" a lot but if they just had more Morrigan they probably would feel very differently about the game overall haha

On Topic: I crave some more Star Trek tribute, with Data/Legion parallels.  I'm good without tributes though.  ME3 can do its own thing and feel good about it.
