Since we're getting "optional" multiplayer levels that will improve our Galactic Readiness, why not do the same thing for vehicles? Make it so that you can max out your GR with the on-foot stuff, but also provide tank and fighter missions that can improve GR as an option.

Hey, if they can justify MP with this... :D

So... Still no confirmation on if there is or isn't open exploration. Guess they want to hide their unpopular decisions. My guess is that even if there is vehicular exploration, it will be linear like ME2.

Anyone know about this? I had a thread for this, but he closed it and said discuss it in this opinion yay/nay forum, and now I can't get an answer on the likelihood or changes of open exploration.

I say "Yay" for both the M35 and M44. But the Hammerhead still needs better sheilds and armor, even in high speed roles.

It would be cool to see the older M29 Grizzly in action too (as a NPC vehicle). IIRC it was still in Alliance inventory as of Mass Effect 1.

I throughly enjoyed exploring/fighting with the Mako in ME1, and have no gripes with it as is. And while I thought the Hammerhead was fun, the missions were too short and the vehicle too fragile. Spaces in Firewalker/Overlord tended to be too confined to fully exploit the Hammerhead's advantage in mobility. If it appears in ME3, I hope they corrected these issues.

And I will do my damnedest to kill that Atlas pilot and steal his ride. I want to play one of those things.:bandit:

Nay. The Mako was a giant pain. Not only did you have to drive over the alps on every planet, you also lost potential experience by using the damn thing. And using the Mako was basically god mode in a game that did not need it, even on my insane playthroughs I never really needed it, and when I used it the mission was too easy.

While the Hammerhead was fun and challenging, it's levels were too short to make it feel like it was really used. And though I would love to see it in ME3, I don't want a repeat of ME1, so I say cut it all out.

EDIT: To clarify, I think open world or 'sandbox' exploration like ME1 planet missions can die a horrible, lonely death. All it leads to is WoW-esque 'fetch me ## of such and such and bring them back' missions.

I want a war bear. I'll take a cyborg war bear if we're going for a futuristic war bear. I will compromise on a mechanical robot war bear if necessary.

Oh yes, bring back the hammerhead.  I just love playing platform games.
Actually, that's about all the hammerhead was made for.

And give me an open world anyday for exploration instead of a shuttle drop to the front door of every encounter.  Let me find the damned thing.  Hell, if for nothing more than actually having a reason to carry a damned sniper rifle.

If Mass Effect 3 were to use that, then it'd be ripping off Dances with Wolves!

There's always room for more vehicles. I'd love to be able to pilot some sort of gunship. Damn Kodiak shuttle is nothing but a target.

The only answer is YAY! on one condition: said vehicle *must* have shields of the mako, manuverability of the hammerhead, and open world exploration with reasonable grades to climb.

90 degree slops were reasonable with the Mako.

I thought the Hammerhead sucked to be honest, an actual waste of time in downloading the DLC.
The piece of crap, couldn't hold off a rabbit if it came at it tail first. Also, I hated the linear gameplay.

I much prefer my beasty Mako where I'm trigger finger happy.
The ability to get out wherever the **** I liked, taking out thresher maws. I mean, I'm just appreciative that I'm able to get out of my Mako and being able to feel the breeze on my cold, dry helmet. You know what I mean?

the hammerhead was awesome, but if they bring the mako back, they better make it easier to turn and reverse, controlling that thing was like turning a sail boat. and the when you drop onto the landscape in the mako, i hope they decide that its better to land on a flat plain instead of the most mountainous regions on the planet! im sure the people who visited every uncharted planet in ME1 know what i mean

Yes. We know. The mission would commence and your mako would appear over an impossibly steep mountain range, forcing you into a 6 and a half minute forward and reverse session like you are Austin Powers...not so fun..

The Mako wasn't a terrible idea. I don't think BioWare should have done away with it completely. They could have at least tried to make it better.

Personally though I don't think I want vehicle combat. Car chases like we had in the Shadow Broker are most welcome and it would be cool if I could take control of the Normandy.

I only need one vehicle.

To drop me off as close to the target as possible and then I'll take the rest of it on foot.

I don't like ME's mini-games - so no vehicles for me.

The "moving turret" (Mako) versus stationary turrets is insanely boring; and there are a lot more interesting platforming games than the Hammerhead. No thanks. Please invest the time into perfecting the default combat system - Shep with two pals fighting on foot.
