I think only the VS and Liara have any right to comment on any relationship status.

Even Tali and Garrus need to mind their own business. And they are my favorite two characters.

Honestly I'd get pretty pissed if I was the CO of a star faring warship, on a mission to save the Galaxy from an immortal race of sentient machines waiting in darkspace, if some random crew members was all "YOOOOO Shep you tap that?"

and why the vs(and liara) as the right to comment and not the other crew member

Well since you either turned both down, or chose one over the other in ME 1 I assume they may actually have something to say.  Also most likely you were faithful to one, or cheated on one, or chose someone in ME 2 when you chose no one in ME 1.

In other words they're already part of your love life.

What if someone didn't romance anyone in ME1?

Wrong.
As Leonia said, what if you didn't romance them? My Femshep stayed single throughout ME1 and I think it would be rude for the VS and Liara to think they have exclusive rights for no apparent reason.
I liked how Liara acknowledged my Femshep's relationship with Garrus at the end of LoTSB, I think other members of my crew are perfectly able to say their opinions. And my Femshep has the right to tell them to shove it if they cross the line. Rather then everyone totally ignoring it, LI included.

I really feel sorry for Bioware. Their decision to include so many new LIs and squad members in ME2 has dug them a permutation nightmare that cannot be satisfactorily solved without a 100GB/ 4-Disc game, or some cheap 'exit' option with short, bad dialogue.

Look at the choices & routes your Shepard can take:
ME1: LI1 (Liara), LI2 (VS), 0 (Abstinence)
ME2: New LI1 (Cerberus lackey), NLI2 (Dextro), NLI3 (Murderer), 0
ME3: I think it was mentioned that there will be NEW LIs in ME3 as well? Possibly even old ones from the same sex?! Plus I'm sure Shepard can remain asexual.
So thats 3 routes from ME1, with each one branching out in 4 possible ways in ME2 and at least 3 new routes in ME3. And thats assuming your short flings with Kelly, Samara or even the Asari Consort won't have an impact.

I skipped probability class. Anyone know how many combinations thats going to work out to?
Personally I think BW should just take the simple route. Lets use Liara as an example, since she's my fav:
- 20 mins into the game:
Shepard: *points to Liara* "Mine".
Liara: *points to Shepard* "His".
And its locked in for the rest of the game. Your ME2 LI will have his/her QQ moment, but then gets on with life by the next loading screen. Throw in interim moments of affection with your locked-in LI, regular remarks from squaddies throughout the game and a climax at the end (assuming you got a good ending), and we're set.

Not expecting too much I hope :)

Im sure nothing would really happen in ME1 if you didnt romance, I just started playing ME1 for the 4th time , I've romanced in all those times though. Maybe I'll try not romancing and seeing what will happen. But I am pretty sure nothing will happen besides picking who dies on Virmire.

What i would like to see, is for BioWare to implement one of the features of:

Image IPB

In Mass Effect 2. Shepard receives alot of emails: but you can't respond to any of them.<_< Catherine really impressed me with how you can email your lover in the game, and personalize the message in surprising ways.It would be cool to have something like this in Mass Effect 3.Not just for texting your love interest but other characters as well.

I also want "Pillow Talk"

As a rare direct sequel from Bioware, this means the romances will be continued. Normally the Bioware romances follow a reasonably set pattern (conversations, quest, conversation to confirm, consumation pre-final mission, almost nothing post mission). Now there is a whole new world of opportunities to explore, which should be a good thing. Pregnancy, jealousy, careers, meeting the family, health etc, there is a whole raft of potential quest/conversation options Bioware could explore, and I hope they do.

As a minimum, what I would like to see for ME3 though is
- a happy ending option with your LI. Its been a great ride, it shouldnt have to end on a downer if you dont play for one.
- lots of interaction with chosen LI's, and lots of recognition of romance by party members. ME2 and DA2 were both guilty of giving you too little to do with your chosen love interest, the games didnt do enough for me to recognise the changed status.
- make it impact on the game. Like in DAO when if you had a LI in your party when you first met Isabella, more of that kind of intervention would be fun.

I would also like Pillow talk. Dragon age 2 had a little bit of PT but not much.

Judy in France says:

What I don't want is another Horizon moment with Kaidan.

For one glorious minute after fighting across the colony to save colonists (and more importantly Kaidan), my FemShep felt all was right in the world during that hug, and then got kidney punched by the angry conversation afterwards. The email that followed was just as bad, and we couldn't even answer it, then Anderson clammed up about where Kaidan was.
I felt it unfair that Bioware emphasised that the crew had to be happy and settled for the Omega 4 relay jaunt, but my FemShep was falling apart at the emotional seams. Not only from the doubt about was she a zombie just acting on memories or had her soul somehow been restored. (FemShep admitted to believing in something/religion to Ashley back in ME1) But also over Kaidan and her inability to let them go.

At least Jacob acknowledged Kaidan at the end, as the unfinished business with the man on Horizon.

Please do better Bioware...

Well, i would personally want the romance to continue from the start or close to it right to the end (assuming the love interest survives obviously), i was quite annoyed how the ME1 LI was screwed over in ME2 on Horizon.

I do not want that to happen on ME3, it would pee me off WAY too much, also, i would like ME1 type romances, instead of ME2 style, the conversations and stuff is fine, but the scene of the sex was so disappointing, the ME1 was more better, enough to know they are doing it, but not too much to stop a teen playing, if you know what i mean.

So far, most romances on ME2 make me think, they are just making out, no big deal. lol

Overall, i would like the romance to be there right close to the start to the end of the characters' life or the game.

I want each relationship to progress into something more. Maybe overcome a hardship of some type and be stronger for it.

and I really want people to comment on it. Kasumi commenting was awesome. At least Garrus, Tali and Joker commenting would be great. I mean they have been with you longer than anyone. Why wouldn't they comment? They are technically Shepard's best friends and Garrus giving you crap would be hilarious.

Garrus: "Soooo... Shepard. How are things with you and Liara?"

Shepard: "Good...why do you ask?"

Garrus: "Well it sounded like it was more than good last night. You guys might want to keep it down though. I could hear you all the way from my station."

Shepard: "..............Sorry about that...."

Garrus: "It's all good buddy"

(awkward silience)

Garrus: "Get some Shepard." (Bro fist moment)

Shepard: (pounds fist) "Shut up Garrus...."

I would laugh sooooo hard if this happened

Other romances, not sure what direction I'd take them in. For the Tali romance, the arc possibilities are simple. Her being pulled in opposite directions by her dedication to her people (even if exiled, she's not going to stop trying to help the Flotilla out) and her desire to be with Shepard; her finally pursuing something purely for herself in the form of the romance, and finally, if there isn't at least one scene where Shepard has to deal with being the subject of scorn or derision for being with a quarian, I'll flip. The prejudice and BS they deal with is an intrinsic part of the quarian story line.

A little drama is nice, but don't drown me in it. If you're continuing an old romance, I'd like it to be addressed relatively soon into the game, just so it kinda sets you on a path so none of your other squadmates will try to flirt with you. I hate being picky choosy with dialogue just to avoid accidentally setting off a romance.

I agree with it being acknowledged by others, too, like in DA. And maybe it's a continuous romance, instead of right before the final battle?

Yes please. So far, the romances have only been culminated in the eleventh hour, like the looming possibility of death is the ultimate aphrodisiac, but the entire ME3 game is supposed to be the eleventh hour. So I look forward to more regular romantic interactions and scenes.

I don't know how you play your Shep, but with mine, I create the feeling of a sort of family among the squad (see:TV Tropes True Companions AKA Nakama, it even mentions ME) So having other squad members comment, maybe even throw out their opinions or tease about it, feels like they care. And it adds squad interaction.
I can't be the only one who plays it like that
