Whatever you'll call your grey warden, PC, "my char" whatever.
IF they return in later Dragon Age games, do you want them to speak? Should they wear EXACTLY the same stuff your warden wore? Should there be any physical changes or looked EXACTLY the same? What should be change in the game?
If THE WARDEN returns...

Your character looking, dressing, and acting exactly like how you played them is impractical at best. If the Warden came back, it'd have to be as a the PC, not a companion or cameo. And if the warden did come back they'd probably be voiced which would be a problem for allot of people, I personally don't care either way.

Id only ask for my characters appearance, everything else is mutable and unimportant to the long run.
Though it would be nice to have bonuses for certain actions and consequances for your choices.
As the main protagonist would be great along with a duel protagonist role between The Warden and Hawke (Think legacy of kain: defiance)
I would love to see my Warden and my Hawke teamed up with their companions as well. Wether together or as two seperate partys working towards one goal.

Agree, appearance and certain choices and actions would be important to keep.
Personally, I'd love to have an option - to choose Hawke, Warden, or someone else. Sort of like Origins.

That would definitely add a twist to the game.

The Warden - especially in more DAO-style - would be the best thing to happen in DA3 (without all the many flaws DA2 brought along) as PC. It'd be an almost day-one-buy for me. Almost, because I'll have to know how DA3 will look like and what the gameplay will be like.
However, as one suggested ^, there could be a choice at the start of the game in which you choose your hero. I wager to say that there'll be more Wardens than Hawkes.
The thing is, the story of most Wardens is not over - it only gets a cliffhanger in Witch Hunt - and I'd be utterly disappointed if the Warden just shows up as random NPC, stating things I (as Warden) would not say and ultimately destroy what would be a good closure to the Warden-Morrigan-OGB storyline.
And to the OP: The Warden's speaking is not necessary. There are so many good lines in DAO which Hawke never ever had in DA2. Example: When you confront the Lady of the Forest: "For me it seems she's the lady of ruins" (or something like that). What a great phrase! Among the many other you could "say" as Warden...
The equipment is not that important. The most important aspect is: what sort of role will the Warden play in the future installment? Personally, I don't want his story to end (in the future), however, even if it ends sometime, it should get a proper ending.
If the physical appearance can't be imported, it'd be no end of the world. One can just import the import story decisions (maybe also equipment and relationships) and create the character physically anew. I'd have absolutely no problem with that, especially when there are more customization options. They did this with this mirror in DA2, so the Warden can use something similar.

The Warden appearing as you created him is unlikely to appear, given how much customization you could do within a Warden's race, class, and sex. A more likely possibility would be to have a default version-say a male Human Noble warrior tied to your cameo.

the redesign of elves could be an issue with elven wardens..
I suspect we are more likely to get a letter or conversation mentioning the warden

It would probably make more sense, and be easier, for the Warden, in any potential future appearances, to be completely concealed beneath a helm. So, you could tell gender and race, but actual features are obscured. And they'd probably get around the armor/weapon thing by making him/her wear some formal Warden Commander gear.
Voiced lines are likely to be short, as it requires a minimum of six VAs, one for each race/gender combination. You could get away with just two, but people would probably call shenanigans on having a dwarf Warden and an elf Warden sound just alike despite not existing in the same continuity.

For clothing, there's the obvious of Warden standard issue stuff. Warriors could wear heavy plant like Alistair and Carver wear. Mages would get robes like Bethany's. Rogues would get some light/medium armor that looks like a cross between the two.
For personality, it would be really hard to work that out. I suppose there could be a bit somewhere where someone goes "Have you heard of the Warden-Commander?" And you can answer that you heard he was one of the three personality types, and it's set in stone from there.
