I'm not allowed to post in the modding section because I don't meet the requirements so I'm sorry if this is considered a spoiler. I really wanted a modders help to maybe tell me how to knock up a mini mod to fix this issue.
I did not save anywhere recent before Legacy. I was under the impression that I could travel freely through the Legacy world, even after finishing the quest. (Would you even call it an expansion? Pfft. Doesn't have a patch on Awakenings).
At a certain point in Legacy you cannot go backwards but I missed the boots in the Carta Hideout. There is no way I can go back and get them as my earliest save in Legacy was 2 floors up the tower. There's an orange barrier stopping me from going back.
Is there anything I can do to work around this? I don't know the item code and even if I did, the Vaddi additem mod dosn't work for Legacy items as far as I can tell. I really like the look of that armor from what I've seen online, at least I've seen the male Rogue and I think it would look really good on a female. I feel a bit silly wearing Loghain's armour and the cutty wrap 'helmet'.
Legacy armor... I missed a part. Is there a workaround?

There are two point where you can leave Legacy and travel back to main game, but as far as I know, once your enter the Tower, you've reached the point of no return.

The Vaddi additem mod works fine for me. Check the thread, it'll tell you how to spawn all of the items from Legacy; then just select the boots instead of Take All and you're all set to go.
