Nice. There was no lead up to that release date announcement though which is kind of weird.

Looks good. I'm glad they've finally got around to making it - I've been waiting for a follow-up since the second one came out nearly a decade ago.

Oh wait, wrong forum. I think they're taking a distinctly different direction with the 3rd, but should be able to make it feel appropriate to the max payne universe. The noir aspect isn't going to be nearly as existent in #3 though, but it'll still be a great game nonetheless.
Between the Max Payne name and rockstar behind it, it'll sell just fine. It'll do critically well - I'd assume anywhere between 87 and 93, perhaps more if they really nail it.

All I feel about it at the moment is anxiety. On the one hand I hope it doesn't just feel like an early 2000s throwback, it would be pretty embarrassing if it couldn't hold its own against Uncharted 3; but I also don't want it to change too much, though under new developers I'm more concerned about it actually bearing any resemblance at all.
Honestly, I'm a little dubious of Rockstar these days. Sucking all the fun out of GTA, LA Noire which was less fun still, and Red Dead Redemption which bore more resemblance to Gun than the former (completely insane) Red Dead. Hopefully Max Payne is a better vehicle for their "we want to be taken seriously" efforts.
Still, a long-awaited sequel following a movie adaptation where they bothered to get important actors from the original games back, glad someone's doing it..

I'm not getting much of a noir feel past the first few scenes of the trailer - the game seems to favor a much grittier style after that, similar to a Michael Mann movie or something.
That might not be such a bad thing, though - we'll just have to wait and see, I suppose.

I like how the shaving head segment is part of the story. I was afraid from the first screenshots that it would just be.... there.

Don't like the bald head, but it's 30 times better than that "I'm passing a kidney stone" look he had in the other two.
Also Rockstar is a great dev, I'm sure it will turn out well.

I kind of like the shaved head look. The way he does it in the trailer reminds me of that scene in Taxi Driver where Travis Bickle gives himself a mohawk. Great movie, and probably a strong inspiration for this game.

What's interesting is that he's seen with 3 hair styles in the trailer (long, short, and completely buzzed)
could be that it's growing back as the story progresses:unsure:
