Why buy this new when you can wait for an edition with all dlc included?

Why's that?

I have a feeling I'll regret it. I already made one bad $60 purchase back in March.

I feel ya!  My MP3 preorder has already shipped, so it's pointless for me to go back on that.. but I was really on the fence between these three games: Max Payne 3, Game of Thrones, and Dragon's Dogma.  I really don't know.

I'm going out of the country in 2 weeks, so I have to decide on whether want to purchase any these (as I won't be able to buy any other games for 2 months while away) or just not play anything on my down time.  If I do decide to buy any, I'll have to take a leap and hope that they're good before mass opinion starts forming.

ME3 left me feeling jaded.. I feel apprehensive about AAA titles, now. haha

I preordered as well. Still, while the whole "game" portion seems solid as hell, the way everyone has talked about the story has really left me discouraged. I'm debating whether I should keep it or return it.

Hype means nothing to me anymore.
I'm more excited for Retro City Rampage and that games getting no hype whatsoever.

Same.. but I figure I'm at the "point of no return," as the game is delivered tomorrow.  So, I'm just gonna cross my fingers and hope the story delivers!  At least I'm fairly sure I won't get a slap in the face in the last 5 minutes..

I may have to cancel buying this game new now. I'll probably just transfer what I already paid on it and buy The Witcher 2 or MGS HD Collection.

The MGS Collection is probably the best among all of the HD remastered collections I've seen so far. Not only does it include a game, which was originally only for PSP, it also includes the original two MGS games and all of the extra stuff for MGS3 etc etc. Plus, the high definition is definitely smooth and the colors are beautiful. If you're a Metal Gear fan, then I'm pretty certain you won't regret buying it.

i decided to just go ahead and buy it. It's been good so far. I can criticize the gameplay for a few things though.

It's been pretty good so far.. but the constant "artsy" text that pops up on the screen (reminiscent of Rainbow Six) and the screen in screen mixed with color effects is kind of "trying too hard" for me. Otherwise, I can't say I'm not having fun. I have yet to try the MP.. but I've heard from friends that it's surprisingly good.

The graphics are great and the transition into cutscenes is pretty awesome.

I've gotten past the first act. The one scene in Jersey was classic Payne, and was written perfectly. The main story in Sao Palo so far is leaving a bit to be desired. Payne's narration is perfect as it always has been, and the gameplay is fun, but the dark atmosphere hasn't hit me in the Brazil portions yet. I'll mess around with the multiplayer once I'm done with the campaign, but so far my reaction is pretty lukewarm.

So far so good... Loving the gunplay! I think Rockstar has done an excellent job integrating cover into the game. Man have I ever missed health packs (painkillers)... hiding to regenerate health has never felt realistic to me.

Just fired up the multiplayer and holy **** is it good. I was even surprised on how many unlocks and how much customization there is. The game modes are awesome and the bursts are cool. So far i am having a blast. Wasn't expecting the multiplayer to be the more compelling part of the game but it is.

Yeah I'm definitely glad they didn't go the health regeneration route like recent games, Rockstar kept it classic.

Is Max still his own self? Like making sarcastic or cynical comments about the situations etc.?

Yeah those inner monologues are still in.

I've pretty much stopped progressing at the start of Disc 2. I have a desire to collect some gold guns before I move forward.

Exactly in the same position.  I just inserted Disc 2 and noticed that I have to keep switching to be able to play MP when I want some down time.  Decided that I might as well get all the clues and gold guns laying about, since I did a pretty bad job of it during my first playthrough.

Chapter III in the soccer stadium is officially my favorite stage to play so far. Shot a guy in his leg and he tumbled all the way down the stairs overlooking the field. It was awesome.

Wait until you get deep into Act III. You'll change your mind about your favorite stage. It ends beautifully.

Precisely. This is how I feel about Dishonored.

The "hype" is going to change, however, after E3, I have a feeling.

Heh, Max Payne wouldn't be Max Payne without painkillers - glad they kept those in.

You guys seem to like the game, so I might pick it up after a while - I need to clear Dark Souls and The Witcher 2 first.

I'm a huge Max Payne fan. While the begining of Max Payne 3 was good but felt different, it changes tone sharply and becomes a classic Max Payne story. It's probably the second best in the series where the story's concerned, but the best with the gameplay. The only thing they removed which I loved were the boss fights and how they weren't really "fights" in the traditional sense. If you played Max Payne or The Fall of Max Payne, then you know what I mean.

Damn, the Jack Lupino boss fight from the first one was epic, as was the final battle with Vladimir in MP2 - is there really nothing comparable in scope in MP3?
