Specifically, how the heck do you avoid getting into a romance with either Jacob or Thane while still being able to go through their conversation paths? I had thought that I was doing well in avoiding romance dialogue with Thane, but at the end of his Loyalty Mission dialogue on the Normandy, he still called me Siha! (Garrus, thank god, is super easy to figure out how to avoid picking romance dialogue in his final conversation)

keep it prof. you can still get all the diag you need while avoiding romance. just go neutral and keep it real, no overly flirty or 'caring' type stuff. so basically stay middle or lower right options lol. my prob is not getting into trouble with miranda and jack with my femshep, once you show you're obviously interested(and mine is, she's into girls and had liara as her li in ME1, not cos i'm a perve but it fit her abusive background) most of their diag completely shuts off which kinda sux as with maleshep you don't seem to have that restriction.

He'll call you Siha, romanced or not.

^This. He'll call you Siha regardless, just don't choose the "I want you, Thane" option. As for Jacob, just don't flirt with him. There are some options about his body and stuff, just stay away from that. If you accidentally start a relationship with him though, I think you can easily break it off.Mesina2 wrote...

It's called "save" and "re-load". Save right before you start questionable dialog.

Yeah, aside from Garrus it's pretty easy to accidentally romance them and not even know it... which is why I did their loyalty missions but didnt talk to them otherwise on my FemShep. Same with the females on my.. oh wait he was a womanizing jerk... so he romanced them all (or tried to... going to be funny the confrontation between Ashley and Miranda in ME3... and hopefully Jack will pop her head in like "He did it with me down in engineering!")
But yeah, at least DA2 romance options were obvious, even if you had to be a jerk and tell Anders to **** off.
Also, if you even START a romance with them, but break it off, it will impact your ME1 romance. You will look at their picture and frown just before the suicide mission. However, if you avoid all romance in ME2, then you will look at the picture and smile.
I guess the idea is kinda you were interestd in the 2nd person, but broke it off because you didn't want to cheat... so you are feeling tied down. Where as if you don't even start the romance then you kept 100% true and are happy about it.

Hmm, interesting, so he'll call FemShep Siha regardless of whether you romanced him or not? (wonder if that's some sort of glitch or bug, but it explains why he called my FemShep that even when I didn't choose any of the romance dialogue)NanQuan wrote...

As for Jacob, actually I just kinda stopped talking to him altogether after my FemShep started sounding flirty even when choosing non-romancing dialogue, which prompted me to reload from a prior save state.
My FemShep's not a horny high schooler, thank you very much Bioware. <_<

I don't think it's a glitch or bug, just something special for femshep. Siha means like warrior angel for his people, so femshep could fall under that image without it being a romance thing. He does state that you're pretty much his only friend too, so he probably cares about her regardless.AVPen wrote...

Choose the middle dialogue options. They tend to be neutral.
