You need level 50 and a lot of money to get the master gear. You have to work for it.

Just finding your super powerful DLC weapon in your armory is not comparable with this.

I do?

I thought I just had to look inside every crate and box there is or simply wait until one of the vendors had the rifle I wanted, which made all the other rifles obsolete, which also made the whole "collecting the other rifles" thing a waste of time.

Or just play the DLC for ME1 in a second playthrough and get Colossus armor at the end.

There's actual work for that? Huh. I must have missed it, because those weapons were easy as hell to get, and required almost no effort to obtain them at all. Especially during a NG+ playthrough, where you can pretty much just trash everything you get, since you have everything good right from the start.

While in ME2, I can simply use another gun if I so feel like it and not feel like I'm shooting myself in the foot because I'm using something I got earlier in the game.

I see...
talking to you is a waste of time.

Because the targeted Call of Duty players would not like it.

What is with the Call of Duty hate on these forums? First of all, Call of Duty is an FPS...so if anything you should be talking about Gears of War. And any case, what's wrong with appealing to more fans, and thus making more money? Especially when the change actually improves the experience in the minds of almost everyone who plays the game?

I'm so glad that BioWare is not listening to the fans when it comes to game design they have professional designers for.

[sarcasm]Ah, professional designers who ignore the lore always design perfect games like Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age II...
[/sarcasm]

Can't speak for DA II but ME2 is miles better the ME 1.

Speaking of which, how about the little fact that if you use too much medi-gel, you'll wind up in a coma?

I'd go farther and say: a dead companion is dead.

Someone With Mass wrote...
Or why not really limit the biotics by connecting them to a stamina counter that's also connected to the dodge maneuvers, which means that's I'll be able to fire off two-three biotic attacks per mission?

I already said I'd like it.

Someone With Mass wrote...
Let's throw in the REAL time it takes for a gun to cool off, shall we? That'd take a couple of minutes.

Why not. Of course the player should have free choise of weapons. If the player wants to carry four pistols, the player should be able to do this.

Because that will make those functions more of a liability than an advantage.

Which means that the player will more than likely resort to sitting behind the same piece of cover during the whole fight while just using the gun that absorbs the least amount of heat while trying to avoid those consequential things as much as possible, since they're only slowing the player down.

Less useless filler fights, better level design and an AI that is not stupid are of course necessary.

It almost sounds to me like you would want Mass Effect to be a futuristic tactical combat simulator, rather than an action TPS-RPG... hybrid... thing.

Whoa, so not having infinite ammo is a real game breaker for some people huh.
My advice to OP would be to not play past veteran, but I think he's over exaggerating.

The ME2 ammo system is staying, sorry. We're iterating on drop rates and refill amounts and playing with that a bit, but the system itself isn't going anywhere.

It'd be godawful boring, that's for sure.

Especially when you're able to fire off three biotic attacks per mission, while you're described as a biotic powerhouse while playing Adept.

I prefer the heat sink system personally. Higher-level guns have such crazy cooldown rates that you can basically just run-and-gun everywhere as soon as you have them. Having to reload after a certain amount of shots forces you to strategize a bit.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean. Could you elaborate? (lots of crunch makes my brain slow without cafeine ).

Make the drop rates similar to System Shock 2:P

As awkward as it was initially (mainly story-wise) to suddenly use a vastly inferior ammunition system, clip maintenance and reloading is way fun :P

The game's combat has gotten too complex to have the same basic system as ME1 without changing it in some way, may as well keep the clips.

He probably means having a single large pool of TCs that all weapons draw from, rather than each weapon having it's own small pool which once depleted cannot be refilled by TCs from any of your other guns.

Also, crunching already? I feel for you!

The implementation of thermal clips wasn't even really awkward story wise: They maintain a much more steady, high rate of fire at the expense of having to carry clips. One side (the geth) starts using them, everyone else needs to copy them in order to maintain a competitive amount of fire. Basically, the overheat guns are too slow (I'd imagine shields also have advanced where it takes more to take them down, or they regenerate quicker). Still, it would be a lot more logical to implement clips for all weapons but side arms or something (as being a fallback, you'd want to have at least one weapon where you wouldn't run out of shots. Doesn't matter how slow it is).

Ah, if that's the case... then no. It's the same as in ME2. Each weapon has its own pool.

But MTC(modular thermal clips) would be so much more tacticool. It has modular in the title!:(

Nah, just kidding. I think the dedicated TC idea is pretty realistic, and it forces you to switch up your tactis every once in a while.

Thanks for the info Brenon! Maybe you guys can implement a weapon mod that turns off the TC system for the people who really hate it (and thus break the game, probably).
