I am playing through the game and everything seems to bright or glowing. When I watch some cut scenes there's a sort of aura around the character. Even the lighting in the game is kind of intense where it 'bleeds' into the character or object. I'm not sure if this is the normal image or if I need to change something in my settings. Since I am a tiny bit computer illiterate please simplify any questions or responses the best you can. I'm providing a few screen shots in hopes of clarifying what I mean by the hazy glow in the game.

This one has hazy blurs around Jacob and  Mordin's face area.

Image 2: http://img99.imagesh...01109142330.png
Very noticable hazy blur around Shep's face.

Medlab with crazy lights taking over everything.

and finally

The blue streak pops up in lights and takes over the screen.

1) Please register the game on the forums. This is not an accusation, but given the spate of users with illegally downloaded copies coming to the forums asking for help, forum registration is the only way we can be sure we are dealing with a legit copy. Illegally downloaded copies include hacked and modified files which could be either corrupt, or full of malware. Once its registered, we will be happy to help. Forums Registration here;

2) Please post a full problem report as per this thread: http://social.biowar...6/index/4795299

What is the actual driver revision according to Nvidia? Anything newer than 258.xx can often cause problems, as Nvidia are reknowned for their newer drivers leaving older games such as ME2 out in the cold.

I'm not even sure where to find that information. Can I be directed on that?

Bring up the Nvidia control panel, click on Help -> System Information. That will give you the driver revision.

I've had this annoying issue for a while too. I had it both when I used a Geforce 9800 GT and my current Radeon HD 5770, so it doesn't have to do with drivers (though using an older driver version like 258.96 is still a good idea). From what I've read this problem only happens on Windows 7; one user who had the problem didn't have it before when using Vista and after a clean install back to Vista the problem disappears. Not sure just why it happens, but that's what I've read. Aside from uninstalling Windows 7 there's no solution that I know of.

Thanks for that. I played it on my 360 and when I put it on my Computer I thought, "Hmmm, I don't remember the game looking so bright and hazy."

Sorry for the late repost, been working a lot of hours lately X.x'

Your drivers are a touch old. I would recommend updating them, but if you go too new on your drivers then you run into other problems. I suggest one of these, depending on which version of Win7 you are running.

It should also be noted that the GT 220 / 230 pair (and 320 / 330) are not Game Quality as desktop cards, but rather were "Budget Borderline" cards when new, and the laptop versions are worse, of course (always the case). They sat well below the GT 240, on the fenceline between Low End Business graphics and Mainline Gaming class.

Moderation will be required, both of screen resolution, and Image Quality slider settings.

The links for the 258.96 drivers above are for some Verde Notebook. Any reason why the 258.69 drivers wouldn't work instead? Is there a particular reason for using a Notebook-specific driver set? Does it even matter?

They were the links that the Nvidia site brought up when I requested GT330M (M = mobility = laptop) drivers, which is what the OP has.

Laptop driver chipsets are always cut-down versions of the full blown desktop cards, with less ram, processing power or whatever. Using the laptop specific drivers should take that into account, and not push the hardware too hard so it burns out.

So, yes it would matter, but not really, since the thing wouldn't even let me past the initial installation phase. I had seen the 258.xx drivers mentioned several times recently, and tried to install them without any thought-processing on my part. Stupid, I know, but you guys have such honest faces... ;-)

But, all is well that ends well: I'm now getting a rock-steady 60 fps no matter what part I'm in and things appear to be artifact-free again. Wish I had rolled back my drivers awhile back. I guess I should just go with an ATI card next time, eh?

Fwiw, it's a real arse-kicker getting Windows to stop auto-updating/installing current vid drivers when you don't want it to, as in my case, where I wanted to go back a year to the good ol' glory days of perfect-running Mass Effects. I didn't even know it was a "feature" until this go 'round of trying to install out-moded drivers. Maybe one day I'll learn to read too. Anything can happen, I guess. Thanks!

ATI cards are more reliable when it comes to supporting older games.
Im not running Win7, just good ole XP, so I dont have any problems with it auto-updating any device drivers. I'll do some digging around and see what I can find about switching off driver updates in Win7 to prevent this from happening.

I sorted that part (finally) and turned off Windows' "helpful" driver auto-updating feature. It's tied in with the Windows Update feature in Windows 7, and surprisingly, it's quite friendly in that regard...once you figure out where it is.

I never thought I'd like an OS better than XP, but I have to say, 7 is pretty close and surprisingly stable. Just like most things, it has its goods and bads. I don't think I could go back to XP, but given the differences and if you have a working XP install, there's no really good reason to switch.

As soon as my new hard drive gets here, I'm reinstalling Windows 7 anyway, because I don't care for how I have my OS and data partitions set up. The only problem is, I haven't decided how I want to set it up. (I really ought to get a single, smaller HD dedicated to my OS, or maybe do a raid configuration for it...like SLI/CF though, I've heard they can be multiples headaches).

Which ATI card would you suggest for around a $300 budget? That's flexible, though, and by the time I get around to actually buying it, there might be 2 or 3 more on the market. Stupid upgrades...
