Seriously? I'm not just being a douche but on my mage playthrough I haven't had to use a pot yet (that's not a surprise I guess) but on my warrior I have honestly made like 20 pots other than the ones I found and have used like 11

idk how people could have so much trouble with this game if they know it's not a hack and slash...

The problem is most people playing this game seem to see a room full of bad guys up ahead and decide charging straight in is the best tactic.

Potions are necessary because Bio didn't want having a dedicated healer to be a requirement, since some people don't enjoy that particular playstyle.

I agree with that.  I guess having a healer and casting spells is the same as constantly pooping potions.  However,  I do think you can limit the amount of potions you use.  Of course, you don't have to do that.  I guess I just don't like to use a gamillion potions, but that's alright.

Or the funnest. I'll admit it's a lot more fun charge in and beat down 20 guards than it is run away and get them all stuck on part of the wall, and then pick them off 1 by 1. Maybe not tactically sound, but fun! You know, what games are designed to be.

It could be. You can do a lot of different things and use a variety of tactics to win the day.

If you dislike using potions, don't use them, but try not to look down on those that do. Their playstyle is just different than yours.

I have a convoluted system of my main character and Morrigan both being mew mages combined with Alistair and Leliana. With both mages switching between mew magic and regular magic, I can keep the party up as well as both their health levels and mana levels. It requires a lot of micro for boss fights.

I can see how such a playstyle is unappealing to people and wholeheartedly support their own personal style, with or without potion-use.

If we all had to play one way or another, that'd be incredibly boring.

Chaos is fun. There's nothing like a huge brawl and coming out alive.

I like to use a lot of crowd control. Stuns, immobalizing, knockdowns, etc. If you control the battle, then you don't really need much healing at all, either from potions or mages. If you play it carefully, you can get through all but the more difficult battles without chugging a single potion.

My favorite tactic, with the help of my main character having max Survival and the ability of seeing monsters on the map, is sneaking on the side of the door with my main character and Morrigan and opening it without the monsters noticing.

-Pause-
Main character casts Blizzard on the entire room.
Morrigan casts Tempest on the entire room at the same time.
-Unpause-
Main character casts Glyph of Repulsion on the doorway to knock enemies back into the storm.
Morrigan casts Mew Wound on the entire room.
Main character casts Mew Wound when the first Mew Wound ends.

Even yellow monsters get taken down to 10-20% just by enduring the storm.

A lot of people will find that cheap. I find it hilarious and fun to watch. Potion use? 0. Fair? Definitely not.

And if there is a yellow monster or orange monster, the Glyph of Repulsion will be resisted, so I put it in the middle of the room and when all the monsters are running for the door, I put down a Glyph of Paralyze onto the Glyph of Repulsion.

He he he he. Me: 1. AI: 0. :bandit:

Add a shared potion cooldown. Problem solved.

My first playthrough. I'm at roughly level 9ish. I've used maybe 5 potions through the game thus far(when I pulled a bunch of werewolves on top of me with a tree still kicking). No healing magic. Hard difficulty.
