Heh.

But to answer the OP seriously, the importance that Geneva, Munich, or New York City have as sites for organizations like the U.N. or the Hague are political and historical, shaped by the circumstances of the day and the consequences of history. Two hundred years ago, the political importance of the  three cities you named was nothing like it is today. In another two hundred years, the state of global politics will likely be radically different, and in the ME universe, it is radically different.

Different as in Canada is main superpower in alliance different or EU, USA and china controling the world the same but different dates on news papers?

Our currency is worth more than the Canadian dollar and our military is more pwoerful than the Canadian army so I can't possibly see how they became a superpower,

The trial should either be held in Geneva, Munich, or New York City because this is balant fan-service and I for  one am tired of this from Bioware

This^ not possible for Canada to be a superpower, their population is too low plus theres alot of drug use and we all know hippies and peace lovers don't have the drive to bring a country to greatness.... but thats just my opinion, don't go spreading it around.

Actually we're all a bunch of chimp fighting over imaginary line to keep ourself occupied and satisfied about our  meaningless primates existence while we do gravitational  floating in the vacuum of infinity called the universe on a little insignifiant little ball of mass that we named 'The earth' using the vibration of air to communicate.

Everything that you believe so intelligent and so ' THE GREATNESS' is actually quite meaningless and useless.

You're still just a chimp fighting for a group of chimp that give you an imaginary/delusional 'greater chimp purpose in life' . In the end .. You're just a chimp fighting for a banana with a little more conscience and not enough awareness.

Because Canada has few exports, not forgetting Bioware is a Canadian company; of course they'd choose one of their own citiies.

Incorrect, Canada declared war against Hitler-Germany some 70 years ago, there where Canadian troops fighting alongside British and NZ troops.

Yes, a flesh monkey i am however its the need we flesh monkeys have for big guns that will save the galaxy this cycle not the utopian Hanar.  It makes me laugh that people hate our own race because its too self destructive while still using medical technology and pretty much everything in our modern world like computers and the internet... majority of humanity's tech is the result of either war or the threat of war.

Different as in different. Think about how complicated international politics can be and how many variables play into it. In 1811, Germany was a collection of three hundred or so principalities and mini-states called the Holy Roman Empire and Switzerland squeezed between that Empire and France, who possessed the largest army in the world. Most countries at that time were still headed by some variety of monarchy. And America was still a backwater upstart of a country, with barely any army to speak of.

Well, this is about 250 years in the future. Unless you have clairvoyance that allows you to see into the future, Bioware can do whatever it wants. Especially because no claims are made that the Mass Effect universe is a prediction of our future. The only aspect of the ME universe that is likely - very likely- to come to pass is space travel, but even then, it probably won't be even nearly as sophisticated as the space travel in ME.

Suuuuure. We've been in constant offensive warfare for the last 60 years and look how that's turned out for us.

America had a large population at that time, Prussia was described as "a nation for and army" instead of a nation having an army or something like that.  Canada becoming a superpower is a little too far fetched, if anywhere it should be somewhere in China or maybe on an island in the pacific ocean so the countries involved in the alliance are happy.

not sure what point your trying to make? 100 years of Aircraft technological advancement is all thanks to war or threat of war, this "constant offensive warfare" are for the most part "small" compared to both world wars....

I wouldn't bother responding to him. He thinks changing a few labels, making a vague reference to the relative size of the universe, and mocking human loyalties and affections somehow amounts to significant thoughts. Of course, if we follow his line of reasoning (such as it is) to its end, all art, literature, philosophy, religion, science, or anything of importance to humanity is "meaningless." That he's never talked to soldiers who have fought about that the reasons they fight is obvious. That he misses the one big flaw in his argument is less so; those monkeys fighting do so for their survival. A simple enough reason, but an important one. If he had actually done any reading, he would know that men fight for reasons that are as far above monkeys as Quantum physics amd Beethoven's Fifth.

Why are you even complaining about this when it's patently not the case that Canada is a superpower in Mass Effect?  Canada is PART OF a superpower.

America had a population of about three and a half million. Britain had about twenty million, as a comparison. But you're missing my point, which was that we can hardly predict the direction of politics over the course of two hundred years.

And Canada didn't become a superpower. It merged with the US and Mexico into a pan-continental state.

I completely missed that part of the Codex.:o

It makes sense for Vancouver to be featured in Mass Effect 3. Bioware is in Canada so obviously this is their big chance to put their country in the limelight. How often is Canada ever important in any literature or film? It is always New York or London.

In da futur Candaz rulez us all!

I live in America and I have no problem with Vancouver being in Mass Effect 3.

This is true too. If you played DE: HR, you'll notice that the city the development team works in featured that city as holding major influence world wide whereas in real life it doesn't.

hmm good point, i was side tracked along the lines of "trial at alliance capital/head quarters".

Australias pop was six million... i think America had around 120 million, i just don't think it was held there for any other reason than its where the Devs are from.

Are you thinking 1811 or 1911? In 1776, America had a population of about three million. Philadelphia was its largest city, at forty thousand.

In the early 1800s?  Not even remotely close.  For the US, it was roughly 7 million in 1811.  The US didn't break 100 million until the 20th Century.  And Australia?  Around 10,000 non-indigenous in 1811.  Less than a million indigenous.

sorry, pre Great War 1900s.

PS:  thanks for the back up before, i was going lone ranger awhile back when threads asked if you'd sacrifice humanity to save the galaxy, was interesting because i'm sure none of them would sacrifice money for charity or homeless people but the second they get on the internet they become saints and the only ones worthy of existence.
