I'm the lead writer for "Crown of Creation". It's an entirely new adventure, set in my Enigma Island gameworld, rather than Ferelden.

I've shared a high-level storyboard with a small group of builders who've expressed interest. Right now, we're just having fun playing the OC and learning about the toolset, so nothing is cast in stone.

Here's the synopsis:

For two generations, the villagers of Locksley have enjoyed peace and freedom.

The Age of Magic has passed. High elves and demons have vanished from the face of the earth.

Even the endless dynastic wars between feudal overlords beyond the safety of the mountainous Protectorate of Sudish are no more than tall tales told by travellers.

The once-legendary Rangers who guarded the borders and forests are now merely a handful of hopeless eccentrics.

As folk turn away from the Ward Moot, the voice of the secretive Albion League grows louder...

Avarice eyes this from afar, while in the darkness beyond the Mountains of Mourning, something nameless stirs...
As a human or foundling villager, your life is about to change forever, as you are plunged into a world of horror, intrigue and romance, in which the only hope lies in the mystical union of a lost sword and the elusive Crown of Creation.

Oh, and there will be a pedigree dog named Bonzo Courtney Challenger...

We're making good progress, having finished the detailed storyboard and approaching the half-way mark on technical design. Still have a lot to build, of course, but it's looking good. Time for another companion thumbnail...

A moustache-twirling, disreputable cad, Sir John Barleycorn became a knight of the household of Lord Fitzwilliam in his father's footsteps, but he is by no means the most valiant of that august company. Indeed, to tell the truth, he is a cowardly, ne'er-do-well rogue, who cares for little except wenching and ale. He excels only as a card-sharp, pick-pocket and sneak thief. Fidelity is not his strong suit. Despite this lack of redeeming features, he is irrepressibly good humoured - one of life's survivors - and he may have useful contacts in the murky underworld of alchemy and body-snatching. We meet Sir John at the **** & Bull Tavern...

We've made good progress with level design and have just started to pilot some VO.

Still months away from release, but looking good so far.

Here's another companion:

Lady Lara Fitzwilliam, daughter of the Earl, takes no prisoners, in any sense. Dark, sensual and aloof, she leads the household troops from the front as her father's trusted lieutenant. Oblivious to her personal safety, she will cut a swathe through the ranks of the most ferocious enemies. Though she demands unquestioning obedience, her influence might be useful.

I am playing your games right in these days.. I am about half of the 2nd chapter, Templars, and I have really to say that you did a wonderful job.. Those games really approach perfection..
The story, the characters, the environments, the gameplay, the romances.. they are all beautiful

I believe every real RPG games lover should play Enigma Island games 'cause they represent the way every RPG game should be.. Congratulations and I can't really wait for play this new project !!

We've made most of the resources for this adventure now - working steadily through the plots and conversation before recording the VO.

The remaining companions have been finalised - childhood friends of the player:

Alicia is a lot of fun, because she loves singing and dancing. Although there's no real harm in her, she does like to play tricks on folk. She's very clever at telling tall tales and taking things when no one's looking, just for a laugh.

Godwin is rather shy and serious, but worth knowing, not least because his granny, the village Cunning Woman, passed on some knowledge of spells and potions to him before she died.

Strong as an ox, Harold eats like a horse, but he's welcome in every hut in the village, because he's happy to help with the heavy chores.

@vicegt - Thanks for the offer - I'll be in touch when the conversations are more stable (which might be a few weeks).

So far, we just did a VO pilot for the opening scene as proof-of-concept, so most of the big roles are still up for grabs.

I have to say that the difference VO makes is just awesome. Good actors make even my feeble lines sound impressive.

Update - we have some unexpected time constraints in RL, so we're probably looking at 2011 now.

Still making steady progress, though, and very happy with the choice of DAO as the vehicle, because it looks great.

Lol.. I suppose we'll have to wait then.. it can't be helped
Anyway.. I have no doubt that the game will be great.. if it will be half as good as Enigma Island I am sure I'll love it !! :)

Just to let everyone know this is still happening.

I figure we've done 85% of the pre-voiceover work now.

As a reminder, this is the module illustrated by Beerfish's cutscene trailer earlier today.

Currently recovering from a hardware problem. Assuming that goes well, should be in closed beta and VO production soon.

Beta testing has now started.

The beta version features complete gameplay for Chapter 1 (2 - 6 hours) and cutscenes (see trailer). It doesn't quite deliver the final experience, though. We plan to add most of the voiceover later, then polish the cutscenes, before general release.

Please feel free to join the beta test group if you're interested.
