I'm currently playing a human warrior, mainly specced in constitution and str. I'm trying to decide on a party build.  I was using PC, Sten, Morrigan, and Leliana for a while, but just recently I acquired Zevran and Oghren. So what I'm wondering is... is it better to have, say, tank/mage/archer/rogue combo, or double up on one of those (ie, two tanks, or two mages, what have you)?

Well since neither Sten nor Oghren are tanks I would go with Golem.

whos golem? you mean shale? ya go with shale hes a good tank. if you ever going to have anyone else tank it would either be the player character or allistar.

Yeah Oghren and Sten are much better as damage dealers, 2handers don't tank nearly as well as Sword+Shield. If you're only looking to exchange one character in your current line up, I'd advise going with Shale, an excellent tank who is also versatile and a very entertaining companion. If you can switch out two, having Sten and Oghren is overkill, but I mean that in the best way possible

in my experience Sten and Oghren aren't effective as damage dealers OR as tanks. they suck terribly at everything. way lower damage than dual wield warrior or rogue. lower damage than a sword and shield warrior actually, if you consider how much damage Assault and Overpower can do. they also suffer from very low defense scores so they eat alot of hits compared to a high dex character or a shield user. basically they are terrible.

Yeah, Shale... that's who I meant. I got him on another save, but not on my current one. I just forgot his name. Hmm. How does damage dealer differ from a tank? I have Sten currently on heavy armor/axe build, and when I got Oghren I was like 'erm... you guys are the same :\\ ' Save for one or two stat differences, and that the dwarf is beserker.



And on a sidenote, how does everyone have their in-game character as avatars?

Profile - Change Profile Photo. On the next screen, look for avatar pics of your uploaded characters on the right side of the screen.

u can also go by how ur playing it....like if ur going to be an a** whole play with shale as tank..Morrigan as mage...and Sten as a damage dealer. if ur going good shale, alister, and wyen.....only reason i dont put Zevran in is cuz he makes me want to kill myself.....oh and oghren is good alt for sten

Pretty much a no brainer if you understand her abilities correctly.  Shale will win everytime with all the AoE ways to grab groups or make a large mob hate her ASAP.

Alistair is the best tank (endgame)



Shale is the second best, due to the mass amount of cushion she has.



Honestly, I recommend taking Shale to Orzrammar (Definately) /Bracillian Woods and Allistar to the other places.

Personally, if you must choose between Oghren and Sten, go Oghren all the way. Sten doesn't have any specializations starting off, while Oghren has Berserker (and thus, more importantly, Rage). But both are great against the three dragons in the game if you equip them with the dragonslaying sword found in the Circle Tower.

With the respecialization mod I use it's free choice really ^^ I used Allistair last time, probably going to use Oghren next time.



Tbh, I can't really stand sten, there's nothing appealing about his character to me.

what exactly do you consider Endgame?  Uhm..i hope it's not the Archdemon because you would be wrong.

I use oghren because I want something different. his two handed abilities would be the only difference. Shale is a better tank though. Sten is the worst out of all of them.
