Eh, it was just an example of being... overly fluorescent in one's praise for one side and denigration of the other.

It's a parody of a codex.

Ooh somewhat of a low blow, however despite your aversion to the floridity of my prose I hold that the argument I presented is not without merit. In simpler terms the mages struggle for freedom in a world where the vast majority of people are cattle to the whims of their feudal masters means that the mages are not seeking equality but superiority, whether they realise this or not.

Personally I thought I was being quite restrained in my advocacy of the Qun in this argument, however I realise the bas are intolerant of difference and shall strive to be more self effacing.

The Qun is all.

The Body of the Qun would be well advised to remain outside of sword reach.

I will go my own way and do my own thing.  The Qun is welcome to do the same.  Try to dictate my path, and I promise, I will kill you all

Yes, but your Saarebas thing ensures that you aren't striving for equality either.

The Saarebas are considered equal under the Qun. They are worth just as much as any other Qunari. They are however dangerous aswell, and that must be taken account for.
You may view them as unequal, but they are considered equal udner the Qun.

So people are equal simply because the Qun says they are? How objective...

People aren't equal because you say they aren't?

People aren't equal because you say they aren't?

People aren't equal because they're enslaved/caged/prevented from speaking forever.

You don't consider them equal. The Qunari does. Since even the Saarebas consdier themselves equal in the Qun, I would stick to their own social dogma, and not yours.

As all those who've encountered people in deep thrall to clinical depression know, not everyone's perception of their worthiness in life is accurate.

So you are saying that the Saarebas are worth less than they feel about themselves?

We strive for freedom for all, the mages rebellion want freedom for themselves. The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.

Interesting though the Qun is, it's clearly a cult.

A cult isn't really a good or bad thing. All the major religions started off as a cult at sometime or another. They have only been stigmatized because if there is one thing a religion doesn't like is their followers converting to another one.

Without starting a RL religion debate let's just say I know, and it's still reason to be dubious about the whole thing to me.

I'm saying that things could be better, even if they don't realize it.

Not necessarily. For instance, I would consider it more important to save one person from dying than millions from sneezing.

In whose eyes? According to the Qun and the Saarebas you rescue your way is flawed and creates chaos. In you view his way is a form of slavery. Who is right and who is wrong? Just because something does not agree with how you see it doesn't mean it's wrong. For all you know you could be living the wrong lifestyle, at least in the Saarebas' view you are.

Slavery, death and oppression are not sneezes, biding in decadent luxury while whining of freedom is not dying.

It's challenge enough to get everyone organized for the mage rebellion; throwing in organizing a wider societal rebellion would be too much at once. Maybe doing that first would have been better, but we have to work with what we've got.

We have seen the slavery of Tevinter, we know what societal reform the mages and their demonic masters want.

And you think that any rebellion would want that just because it's conducted by mages?

Its not impossible it could end in that.

The want for security could very well lead to it for mages.
Not saying its likely, but it is possible.

Yes, until the fade is severed from reality and both magic and possession are no more then mages will always seek more power and influence. Just like your nobility, the most ruthless and power hungry shall rule. Blood mages and anbominations.

And as always the common man shall suffer, but now he will give his soul and not just his life.

Kind of like how the Qun wants to own everyone's soul?
