If you're going to compare elves from both games, then at least compare elves with the same quality standards! Believe it or not, but the first Dragon Age title also had ugly looking characters, even elves!

Let's put your Merril v1 next to Merril v2, shall we?

Or better yet, let's put your Merril v1 next to Tallis!

Oh look, a pretty elf! Posted Image

I hope not tbqh. DA1 elves were silly, just short humans with pointy ears. Elves look much more unique now. but gz to OP taking only the very worst examples. Here's some real ones. Can;t post htem because the forums are weird, but here's links.

I hope not. I love the overhauled look of the elves, dwarves (who really changed very little, kossith, genlocks, all alphas, and darkspawn emissaries. I was meh with the hurlocks. I want distinct-looking races, not giant humans, tall humans, medium humans, and shortandhairy humans.

On the one hand, I liked the social statement made in DAO that elves were treated so badly even though they were basically humans with pointed ears. On the other hand, I like that you can fairly easily tell the difference between DA2 elves and almost any given elf from another game.

I like the faces of the new elves, but their stick arms and legs took some getting used to.

I wouldn't mind really if they did or didn't. Still it has the bonus of forgeting about dragon age 2 story so it may not entierly be a bad thing.

Keep it the same, I loved the distinctiveness of elves in DA2. Large eyes, Attached brow ridge and nose bridge, pointy chins. Makes sense to me, I think they just need to check all the angles on thier character creator.

Merill in DA2 is okay, I don't mind the change in facial structure in this case although I don't particularly like Fenris. I hope that future new elf design have some further variation in facial structure, rather than being restricted to generic facial structures.

Yet, the other elves, the less said the better, if future elves are designed with the same quality as Merill then I don't have too much of a problem. However, as a more general comment to all elves in DA2, for heaven sake fix the proportions for head and body size, which is part of the reason they look so freakish. The neck and body appear far too thin for the size of the head.

Eh, I like new ones better, they just need some tweaking and refining.

The only thing bothering me is when they move their heads in certain positions their nexks look unnaturaly bent. I can't put my finger on what's exactly wrong, but it just looks wrong.

As long as they don't make then so incredibly skeletal and beyond anorexic looking like they did in DA2, then methinks I shall be able to deal with the new elven design. Unsquish the elves for DA3!

Oh, and I'm not fond of the no shoes policy.

Origins Elves were all so beautiful and far superior to their DA2 counterparts. Remember Cammen? So ****ing hawt.

I think Tallis' face is the way to go for future Elves. More natural looking, rounder, less cartoony. Some people brought up the uncanny valley issue in the announcement thread but I don't see it. I also think the noses were a nice change from Origins.

Bioware still haven't managed to half decent hair that doesn't look like some child plopped a lego toupee on top I see... >.<

Not really fan of the new donkey people look myself but what actually bugs me more right now is how plastic, rubbery, lego appearence of the hair all the time. Why can't anyone at Bioware design even haf decent hair. o.O

It's really strange to me that some people claim to like the DA2 elf look and then parade around the most atypically human-looking among them to defend the new elf look.

lol nice try TC. Anyway, the DA2 version is better, like someone said, they were just short humans in DAO, I like the fact that they made them look like their own species.

You pick the worst example I see. I don't mind elves now. If they were blue they could be in Avatar. Still they look like elves, not humans with pointy ears.

I agree that they nailed the elves in DA2, clearly distinguished from humans, and a great look (according to most DA players)

What magic hat did you pull that from the bit underlined?

When someone, anyone says "most" or "majority" then everything they say after or before that is to be taken with pinch of salt. Simple fact is a huge amount of people do not like the new Elves so where you get this "most" from is mere propaganda made up by yourself.

Btw, take away the donkey ears on Tallis and she looks human.

In which case the only defining part is still the ears just like in DAO. Maybe slightly Asian in appearence but still human. Regardless, they did good job incorporating Felicia's "human looking" face then the go and mess up with the tacky hair again plus the very silly neck (half expecting her to twist her head like the exorcist).

From what I've seen, all of the redesigns look pretty sharp (especially the Qunari) except for some of the new darkspawn and Zevran. The new hurlocks look like court jesters, the genlocks look too ape-like, and the ogres' skin color is too light for my liking - oh, and Zevran's new look makes me regret ever letting him join in on my threesome with Isabela and Leliana.

Still some room for improvement, but I like what I see so far.

Hmmm.... I prefer the Felicia Day-elf in DA2 style.

THEY'RE NOT HUMAN, PEOPLE! For crying out loud, they're another race and it should immediately be obvious beyond just their ears. Yes, this includes their different gate and their more slender limbs.

I swear, some of you people just want to grouse about any and everything.

I love how everyone whining for DA:O elves trolls while they're at it! =3

They're keeping DA2's style. To quote Chris P, "Neener neener neener".
