Will Bioware Change The Elves Back?

Personally, the last thing I would like to see is my favorite warden, an elf, morphed into one of those unfortunate misshapen creatures by the game engine, without even the benefit of very comprehensive tweaks done by an artist to bring it into acceptable levels.

Wow. Just saw this thread. I gotta say, OP, that if you really want to debate it fairly, you would include Merrill from DAO and DA2 as the comparison and not some other elf.
That's really the only fair way to debate the changes--you look at the same person and examine the differences. Otherwise, it just seems that you are trying to manipulate the outcome--trying to get a desired consensus.
Merril looks like none of the elves in the game. She is the most human looking elf.

bull****. She has all of the features the DAII elves have. She has the eyes, ears, facial structure, thin body, and everything else that the new elves have.
Sometimes I think people either really dislike the new look of the elves and will say anything so they can get their precious "humans with pointy ears" back, or they just really enjoy posting for the sake of posting instead of actually using facts to support their argument.
...and yes, I think that sometimes I fall into the latter category.
I mean seriously, would people have thrown this much of a ****storm if Bioware made the Elves in DAO look like this?

What he said.
I say keep them. They look a little more alien and unique. A couple poorly rendered ones does not suddenly mean the whole idea sucks. After all, almost all the non plot-related humans are poorly rendered and look awful too

perhaps change back is not the right word, but change them nonethless. The elves bodies look disproportioned. They have massive bobble head and a body that is too thin. Merril does not have this look as she is more of a proportioned and thus looks different from other elves. The Ethereal Writer Redux wrote...

. Merril does not have this look as she is more of a proportioned and thus looks different from other elves.
This probably has more to do with the fact that she is a party member and DA2 was a rush job.
If all Elves were as well proportioned as her, would you keep them as-is?
I'd bet a lot would say no. Gotta have that 'humans with pointy ears' thing back.

You are being quite dismissive. Not everyone who had issues with the da2 elves appearance want " humans with pointy ears".Vicious wrote...

Sure, some of them looked terrible (poor Zevran), but the same is true of NPCs in general.

Yes i would be fine with that.i have no problem with bioware wanting to make their elves more distinct and recognizable.

Yes. The problem isn't that they're different. The problem is that they're ugly.
Though the ugliness of Dragon Age 2 elves might be more due to the rushed development than the intent of the style. Merrill, who actually got attention, looks fine. Most other elves don't.

Saying she has all the DA2-elf features in no way contradicts the claim she is among the most human-looking of the elves. I'm one of the people who in the past has said her face at least is atypically human-looking, and you're wildly off the mark to say I will just say anything or I just post for the sake of posting.

But what makes something human-looking? We all know that the elves are classed as humanoids, but what specifically makes a DAII elf the most "human-looking" of the bunch?
You can claim it's so, but as with all things without specific details to talk about it's a claim and nothing more.
A true human-looking elf is Feynriel, and he isn't actually an elf!

Those are only some. There's also Ineria, Junar, Pol, Zevran (despite not looking as close to his DAO self as he could, he is nevertheless a good looking elf), Sketch, the Elven Fanatic (whom I hate killing

Dragon Age 2 Zevran... is a "good looking" elf? I have to respectfully disagree with you here. His abysmal appearance is why I hope The Warden never returns (considering the Surana protagonist is my canon).

You can claim it's so, but as with all things without specific details to talk about it's a claim and nothing more.
Her nose doesn't taper as sharply as average (edit: I'm referring to the downward tapering that's apparent when viewed from the front - obviously from the side the nose still extends outward as it goes down), and there's less nose-forehead integration than average. Plus, her jaw, like most companions' jaws, has a more typically human shape than most DA2 humans's jaws do, as they're too roundish or ill-defined. (edit2: Come to notice it, her nose tip doesn't tie downward the way Ilen's, Orsino's, or the kid's nose tips do.)
But really, for our purposes, I don't need to provide specific details. When you make such an attenuated claim as you did, the burden's on you to provide evidence of my motives or propensities.

My point is too close an association between elves and humans is a bad idea. Even trading with them is asking for trouble, just ask Allison Peirson.
