I agree with you on the ears, too. Why make them so big all of a sudden when they were sometimes hardly noticeable on the elves in Origins? ... maybe that's why... but surely there was a medium size they could have stopped at first before going for gigantor!! Those ears may have worked for Nintendo's Link from Legend of Zelda, but that's just because he's a stud (and definitely more cartoon-ish). Didn't work so much here.

I would be against making them like the Origin Elves: they should look different enough so you could tell at a glance that they were elves if their ears were covered.

I don't mind the elves in DA2, but they could change them again and I wouldn't care so long as the new thing isn't just short humans with pointy ears or something even more strange looking.

Rabbity eared elves are just too car-toonish. I could accept a compromise between the two, but tone down the frigging ears.

I am with jamming777 100 percent on this. I keep thinking about the elf in the Harry Potter movies, every time I run into one in DA2. It makes me cringe.

I don't really get this thread, surely it is better for a game to display distinct art styles for each of its races? It helps immersion, richness of background and simply plain makes playing it more interesting. I was pleased Bioware reworked Genlocks in Legacy as well to make them more unique. What possible reason could you have for wanting elves to look huma....ah.

I think Bioware needs to find a middle ground between the elves of Origins and those of DA2. I did like some changes made to the elves for the second game. But most of them were hideous, and rather frightening. Skin color, and being way too skinny in disproportional ways were huge contributing factors. One example being that their necks were often too long and too slender and seemed to get even skinnier where neck meets shoulders. Did anyone else notice that? or is it just me? I personally did not like the new Zevran. Another disturbing transformation for one of the elves was Sketch from the Leliana's Song DLC. He then has a cameo appearance in DA2. Take a look at this absolute fail:

Creepy, skinny, pale alien Sketch from DA2. I believe I rest my case. Many times in DA2 especially (which made me laugh and cringe at the same time) people and elves make mention that elves are fairer and more beautiful than humans and are sought after for their looks and company. I really don't see it.....again maybe that's just me.

The Chantry Board in Act II. Sketch is on the run from a number of people because of Leliana's "stories" about him.

OT: I do not like merills look in Da2 she seems more anime like compeard to other elfs

Try Dragon Age Redesigned.  Popular mod on danexus.

Aside from Pineappletree's Vibrant Colors, no. I can look when I get home if you like but, for the record, this is what I mean by 'elfy.'

I don't think Sketch looks horrible in DAII, but I do think his DAII self should've been closer to looking like his DAO self.

DAII Sketch has a completely different style nose and his eyebrows are a different color. I think those are the only problems. Well, and maybe give him smaller lips. Just a little bit smaller.

Same here. DAO elves were molded from your standard cookie cutter Tolkien elf template. The only noticeable difference was height, but The Elder Scrolls and a few other series also have that aspect covered. Even though i appreciate the uniqueness of DA2 elves my main gripe with them is the ridiculous nose bridges.
