DA2 elves cannot be mistaken for humans.  Origins Elves can.  Origins Elves look NO different from humans at all.  Cover the ears, and your only indicator that you're looking at an elf is the dialogue.  

This is not the case with DA2 elves.  You think the design is ugly.  Fine, you're certainly welcome to like or dislike the look of DA2 elves as the mood strikes you.  But your opinion on how aesthetically pleasing the elf design is has no bearing on whether the design is visually distinct from that of humans.

The elven design for DA2 is definitely visually distinct from the human design.  This is all that people are saying--that elves finally look a separate race, as they're meant to, rather than looking so much like humans that if their hair covers their ears, you can't tell the difference.  Your persistent arguing to the contrary doesn't make much sense, because the differences come together to make the difference immediately apparent.  This is an inarguable point for people who have functional eyesight.  So your continuous refrain of "THEY ARE STILL SMALL POINTY EARED HUMANS" is as incorrect as it is annoying.

It stands to reason that the majority of the posters here are fans of the DA game.  I don't expect them all to be, but given it's a Bioware-hosted site for Bioware games, yeah, I'd consider it more or less a fan forum.

Just as a note, while I was fine with Zevran's appearance in DAII -- though I was disturbed by his lack of eyebrows -- I wouldn't be adverse to him being worked on a bit better for DAIII. I mean, imo he looked pretty good.

I hope they 'tweak' the elves for the next game. I understand that they do not wish to change them back, but making them more pleasing to the eye would help a great deal. There were several nice looking DA2 elves but most were really freaky looking. The impression I got from the books were that Elves were actually attractive (IE Stolen Throne) and thus I would like to see that translated better into the game.

Actually, what I'm saying is if you remove the knife ears, the DA2 elves just look like retarded humans. Like Bioware made an entire race of Sandals. Same with how if you remove the ears from DA:O elves they look like humans too.

I'd hardly call BSN, well especially the DA2 forums a fan forum. I come to BSN to b*tch about DA2 relentlessly, make fun of people and speak in gmag style, so yes that's why I spend time here because I can unwind unlike in more uptight forums when I would have been slapped with 32963 infractions.

Wish they'd go further, I remember the good old days of warhammer alien elves with pure black eyes and the like. It needs some refinement but the new direction sits better with me than the old, seems more of a case that the kossith design took up a lot of man hours and they didn't quite have enough left for the elves.

Many of the DA2 elves were beautiful - but some just looked like imports from some Alien game.

I very much liked the character re-design for the majority of characters.

I was really PO'd about Zevran in DA2 (but I got over it - his charm still won me over) - but that is because I liked him as he was - the only Zevran Face Morph I like is Ejoslin's, coz she kept him basically Zevran.

I second the motion to balance their proportions and shoes are preferred but not essential - it makes sense the Dalish, and poor elves have bare feet, but city elves I thought wouldnt.

Really? besides merrill, all elves are ugly, fenris looks somehow better then the normal elves but his final fantasy hair ruins it all and the face structure....  its just poor on all elves.

Besides huon and orana, the so called "normal" looking elves are also ugly they have an ugly-messed up face stucture, i also just cant stand how some of the males stand (the, i s*ht in my pants stand)  Besides orana and houn; Terath, Vinell, tomwise (or should i say pinocchio?) etc... look ugly too
i could write you a whole list but i am to lazy to replay the game,

Now i am sure you are going to say there are ugly ones in dao too,.... of course there are but not as much as in da2, if i would give you the names of the good looking ones from da2, it wouldnt even make as much as dao's bad looking elves, (which had just a few bad looking elves)

Maybe Bioware should put out an official poll.  I found DA2 elves to be rather attractive, and those of us who are getting drowned out by everyone who thinks they're ugly.

Oh ffs, there is nothing "Final Fantasy" about fenris's hair. I've seen plenty of guys in real life with a similar style and serious physical or mental trauma can turn hair white, fenris is just an exageration of that.

I've been on other forums. I've been well behaved and all that jazz. But having to follow rules strictly to the letter or get slammed with an infraction bomb eventually just gets boring. On BSn though, it's much more chill. What's hilarious though is that you're criticising me, and yet you're the one insulting me by calling me a jerkward. Yup, I'm not the nicest guy ever, but have I insulted you or anyone else on this forum directly like this? No. (and just to clarify, make fun =/= insult) I've been tempted like hell to, but I never have.

i know but i meant that, the cartoonish art style lets them look more anime like, and with the art stlye and his white hair he looks more and more like somebody from final fantasy imo, i have heard plenty of people on the forums saying that he looked to much like someone from final fantasy so i am not alone in that case

I wish this board were less crowded with xenophobic westerners. If I wanted to play Skyrim or DAoC, I'd play them. They're drab and have no flair.

I quite appreciate the more lively style of DA2, particularly my rogue animations. White or any strange hair colors aren't an import from Japan, idiots. The Japanese stole it from westerners to begin with. If anything, Asian societies have been more suppressive of flamboyance than western cultural individualism. Americans had comics with all sorts of hair colors, costumes, and body shapes way before Japanese made it into our cultural radar.

To have an issue with white hair is to say you want Sten's hair to be brown when he appears again. More or less.
