I love my elf, too.

I just wish she didn't have that wrinkled forehead that all the dark elves have. It makes her look like she's frowning 24/7...

Skyrim elves to me are hideous smiply due to them having an absurd facial design. The slanted eyes, the extremely narrow chins, the forehead that shoots up way too far, and everything else about the design is just hideous to me.

Though DoC's is pretty damn awesome. Looks like a BAMF. But the general Elven populus of Skyrim look absurd.

I thought Fenris lost his natural hair color when he underwent the lyrium tattoo ritual?

That's how I've viewed it myself. He does describe the ritual as traumatizing and agonizingly painful, so I could definitely see it happening.

Me too. I've always thought it was due to the ritual, kind of like that old situation of getting terrorized so badly that you hair goes white.

Yea, that's how I rationalized the white hair too.

I still don't understand why it needs to be rationalized in the first place. Why couldn't he just be a natural platinum blond?

Anyway, as to the actual topic of the thread, I hope they don't change it at all from DA2. I think the vast majority of the elves look great. I was super nervous they'd turn them into those really annoying WoW-looking ones with ears that span like 3 feet across, but I really like what they came up with.

I hope they don't change the elves look aside from the usual tweaks that come with each game. I liked how they looked for the most part.

it could definitely be natural. I wouldn't have a problem with that.

But in the chance that it isn't his natural hair color, then the ritual would be able to explain it.

And since he described the ritual as traumatizingly painful, it makes a lot of sense that his hair may have turned white from the process.

It didnt occur to me at all that it was odd that Fenris's hair was the colour it was - but then again I am used to Drow - so it seemed natural to me.

I think Dalish have certain colours, although the older ones are grey - so if there is a colour rule that was breached then yes fright/suffering would justify the change.

Well, count me in as someone who thinks the new elf model looked horrendous on all NPC's. But then again the new graphic style wasn't my cup of tea at all, anyway. But the elves were especially bad, just as much as "herp derp" as poor Alistair looked in his cameo.

Not that it matters, it appears that BioWare is slipping as a developer studio. I can only hope after DA2 and the ( to me ) extremely disappointing SWTOR that ME3 will at least be as good as its predecessors.

I guess I just figured that since that is one of the color options available in the character creator, there wasn't really anything special about it.

I might be a little bit biased, though, since my High Elf Paladin in Everquest and my Half Elf Ranger in EQ2 both had hair that color, and I attempted to have it in DAO for my City Elf, but it came out looking more grey than white.:P

I know, it's an older thread, but the elves are driving me batty. The DA2 elves are a change from DAO, I can accept that. I can gladly accept them being more ethereal than humans in concept, though the DA2 elves missed that mark badly and I'd much prefer the DAO elves as at least appearing more physically sound? However, I have never been able to come to terms with the elf with handlebar ears, or what I have always called flying-ear'd elves. Provide them with Dumbo's feather and they can fly with those things. Give them a ear-tuck, for pity's sake! From a biological standpoint, I cannot begin to fathom what possible advantage such ears would have. From a time standpoint, I cannot understand how elves the world over suddenly mutated in the span of Alistair's reign (cause wow, that sounds painful to me). And if you're going to give them giraffe necks, at least make the elongation proportionate to the rest of them. I absolutely HAVE to have Merrill's scarf or she scares me with that neck.

A slight body-modification wouldn't hurt either. Once can be lithe and lean without looking like a skeleton.

From what I can tell of Gaider's comments earlier in this thread, the elven appearance in DA:O is not really canon, and the next appearance is going to be different still and the new canon appearance of elves. He even seems to suggest that Tallis is not a canon image of the elves (in that her image differs from elves [in DA2[ in the same way that elves differ from Humans [in DA2]).

Gaider stated that they're not going to revert the elven appearance to DA:O, but the morphing is different in the next Dragon Age.
