Also, stop making the faces so doughy. Though this applies more widely than the elves

As for Fenris wawing a big sword around, remember he has those lyrium tattos or veins burned into his flesh? Maybe the also function as some sort of exo-skeleton making it possible for him to lift or wield really a big -ehm- sword?

To be honest, Hawke can similarly defy the laws of physics when given a large 2-handed weapon...

They did that because Tallis also appears in Redemption and is played by FD.SkittlesKat96 wrote...
I hadn't seen that picture of Tallis on the first page of this thread until now...looks like they have modelled her on her voice actor. Interesting.

It's ironic that the example of "pretty DA2 elf" is face-scanned Felicia Day. I.e. essentially what people claim was so awful about the DAO elves -- a human with pointy ears.Helekanalaith wrote...
Or better yet, let's put your Merril v1 next to Tallis!
Oh look, a pretty elf!

The nose has been changed too hasn't it?

Yes, but it's not visible head-onWulfram wrote...

Looking at the side shots in the trailer it's also hardly a "DA2 elf" nose, really -- the bridge is moved slightly forward yes, but that alone is actuall something you can see on humans. And the overall shape remains very human -- It lacks the straight, vertical line appearance of DA2 elves.

That said, I wouldn't mind some really good elven looking elves (Merrill, Orsino, etc), some really good looking human looking elves (I guess Tallis), and others. And just plain ugly looking elves (Tomwise).
But I think the new design is great.

I think Tallis looks a lot like Fenris, honestly. Their faces share some similarities. Tallis just has a rounder chin than anyone else in the game.

exactly and Merril is the most human looking elf in the game
I just don't want them to not look like they got hit in the face with a shovel, not look like humans

Hmmm.... they might look similar. I'd have to see a few more screenshots of Tallis besides the ones we currently have.

I don't think Tallis looks that good, honestly. And I have a huge crush on Felicia Day. Her chin is too round and she has puffy cheeks that remind me of Fenris.

Yeah, agreed. Even though I think Talis looks pretty good, the DA2 pork jaw is still in evidence.Wulfram wrote...
They should tweak things rather than doing a wholesale revamp. Use the more swept back ears of Merrill and Fenris rather than the sticky out ears more common with the rest. Maybe make the nose/brow ridge a bit less pronounced, but keep it. Give them all the equivalent of a few good meals.
Also, stop making the faces so doughy. Though this applies more widely than the elves

Poor Orana. Getting rolled out as the poster child by anyone who doesn't like the new elves. Personally, I think the worst thing about her appearance is that makeup -- I mean, what's up with the pastels? Gosh.
Beyond that, while our elves may be tweaked in appearance (and, indeed, our face morphing system for all characters is likely to change as we move forward anyhow), we're definitely not going back to humans-with-pointy-ears. So, while pulling up the best elven pictures from DAO and the worst elven pictures from DA2 may be an interesting exercise, it's not going to convince us to suddenly reverse course. Sorry.

First, thank you. I've been saying for a long time that she suffers from Tarohne Clown makeup syndrome.
I found Orana to be a beautiful elf who had horrendous makeup and the body of.... wait for it.... a slave! But working in the Hawke estate will give her a few more meals and she'll look better in no time.

People on here seem to forget that beauty is subjective. I find many elves in DAII to be beautiful that others found to be not so beautiful. I mean, I fell in love with Athenril immediately because she was gorgeous and had a great personality. Hopefully we'll get a Year 1 DLC that allows for the option to romance Athenril in said DLC if you went the smuggler route.
There are also some elves that result in me being attacked for liking them. Like Zevran.
okay, not really attacked, but people do wonder why I like Zevran's new look.

Yeah, I'm afraid not. We had a scan of Felicia's face and actually went through a process of deciding how much we wanted to "elf" her up. There were versions that ranged from "very" to "hardly at all" (with the latter looking more like a DAO version of an elf, even with a more human body)... the main argument being that, in order to more closely mirror Felicia's appearance in the webseries, we'd have to deviate from the new elven appearance. The versions were very different from each other.
Ultimately it was Felicia herself who said to go with the most elven version-- after all, a video game isn't as bound to reality as a live webseries, and she wanted to stick to the lore as much as possible.
So you could say that Tallis looks human and unlike the other elves from a screenshot, I suppose, but you'd be wrong.

DA:O's version was not very unique and was boring.
