Shepard is a 'Champion' of Humanity, sure. He stopped Sovereign, the geth and Saren, then died and then ressurected to stop the Collectors, a primary force that the Reapers used. Of course, these are all good things, but there comes a time where even the best men have to make the horrible decision and take the fallout for it.

Hackett had asked Shepard to get Kenson and through that, it was technically his responsiblity, Shepard was the one who pushed the button that ended three hundred thousand lives. In the public's eyes, the fault lies with him and this would/could be considered a hate crime - it can't simply be forgiven like that. Shepard was - the impression I recieved anyway - recieved as a mad-man predicting an intergalactic doomsdays by most. He warned the council and everyone that something huge would happen and it would be incredibly bad for everyone if they kept their heads in the sand.

It was an unforgivably cruel situation and Shepard did what he could, he chose the lesser of two evils.

Sorry - don't know why I skewered into that tangent there.... Oh - right. Shepard ain't infalible.

On a more related note, I'm glad that if anyone were to bring Shepard in, it would be Anderson. Even if Shepard was a little pissed about the VS meeting on Horizon, he still views Anderson as a Mentor (or father-figure possibly). There wouldn't be anyone else in the Alliance he would entrust his ship to.

"I stop a Reaper invasion and they want to put me on trial?!" or something to that degree.

That is what renegade Shpeard is pissed off at. He did not do what he did for kicks, he did it to delay the Reapers and buy the galaxy time.

So basically the superhero that saves the world, only to find out that the world doesn't care. Bummer.

Apparently defending someone when people are talking trash about that person is racist.

Sorta like that I guess. Execpt the super hero knew he did something pretty nasty in order to save it, and since no one belives him. He gets condemmend for it.

The alliance just used shepard to do the dirty work that's all they needed a scape goat Kenson was an Alliance operative in a place she shouldn't be doing something that is highly inllegal why send Alliance marines that could be caught by the batarians when you can send some guy/girl that works for a know terrorist organization.

How people could've expected less is beyond me.

The rest of the galaxy don't know about the Reapers. They see Shepard as a terrorist who's trying to undermine governments and treats him as such.

Telling everyone that the end is nigh will only result in everyone believing that you're a kook.

Yeah that's very lame. Especially since paragon Shepard says he'll turn himself in when the time comes so there's no need to put him in chains. Renegade Shepard just resists and since the Normandy has superior armor, shields, firepower AND an AI on board, destroys any ship coming after him...

I really doubt pissing off the Alliance this close to the Reaper invasion is a good idea.

It's the ideal time for Alliance haters, with the Reapers sacking earth you can be sure the Alliance can spare no people to go after Shepard.:pinched:

I'd be surprised if they hadn't held Shepard in a prison for the mentally deranged/unstable. Look at how they treated his warnings about the reapers. Discarding them like he was another madman. What in hell.

Technically, this was all Hackett's fault. He was the one who sent Shepard on the mission in the first place.

From what I understood. All Shepard's will go to the trial. Renegade Shepard was pissed over it.

I know all of them will be going to trial but since (paragon) Shepard said he'd go willingly, I'm wondering why the Alliance, led by andersson no less, took over the normandy and put Shepard in chains. Maybe it's standard procedure for this type of situation but I'd assume Andersson would make an exception for Shepard and leave the chains...

It's also Shepard's fault. If he hadn't left any evidence of him being there then he could've just denied involvement. Sure as hell Hackett would've done the same considering the possible consequences and the Reapers on their doorstep.

I do not think people expected less. But just because they know it is going to happen, does not mean that they have to like it.

Obvious. He's a human. He indirectly defends Shepard (who is also human.) Seven aliens came at him to slice him up with their knives. He dares to stand up for himself.

See how discriminating he is? He should've just lied back and let them do it. Or just kept sitting here, playing his damn cards, while the entire galaxy renounces and condemns Shepard, twice the galaxy's savior, all over again. That'd be sensitive of him. "Humans need to learn their place." (Saren.)

To avoid the accusations, you need to be submissive and meek, never fight back, especially not the batarians (because they keep attacking us and try to blow our colonies, you need to work thrice as hard not to offend their delicate sensibilities), suck up to the Citadel Council, and heaven forbid you ever even think of protecting humanity's interests.

And defending Shepard? Why, that would be the pinnacle of evil. Even Ashley eventually learned just how bad it is. The galaxy's savior need to know that he's completely alone, and that nobody gives a damn or appreciates his efforts. And especially not humanity.

I do. I'm pretty excited about him, actually. I was afraid I'd be stuck with just a grunt, or worse yet, someone like VS. It's okay if you lack the capacity to properly appreciate him. Other people can recognize his worth.

He is a Marine, not a Soldier, the distinction is important. Stupid: Did you not see him block a knife with a tv then stab someone with it? One-dimensional: Obviously, the incident on Behl meant something to him. Being Typical: Actually, having a real MARINE is a breath of fresh-air. And the term is Jarhead.

Knew that already. Still, reinstatement into the Alliance doesn't mean Shepard can't still hate the Alliance for putting him on a political trial to appease the Batarians. Not the best approach to stopping the Reapers I admit but still....Anyway, this doesn't have much to do with the comic indigowolfe posted so... back to topic now=]

I believe you meant stereotypical American soldier.  You might want to talk to some actual ones if you didn't mean that.
