He is a Marine, not a Soldier, the distinction is important. Stupid: Did you not see him block a knife with a tv then stab someone with it? One-dimensional: Obviously, the incident on Behl meant something to him. Being Typical: Actually, having a real MARINE is a breath of fresh-air. And the term is Jarhead.

This.

Having someone with a similar military past like Shepard is indeed refreshing.

Diversity is good and all, but when it looks like certain traits of a character appears only once every full moon, then something's not feeling right.

*facepalm*

I just need to stop reading these comics. I must be insane, because I keep reading them and expecting them to be good.

After reading this, my only question is how exactly did Shep end up in chains and what happened to the crew.

Shepard said that he'd come back to Earth and gladly face trial.

It's only natural to assume that they put Shepard (and possibly the crew) in chains and bring them back to Earth.

Anyways, awesome comic.  Mostly action, and the WOW! factor in the end.

I'm just happy that he's not Alliance anymore, otherwise I'd never enjoy working with him.

It's so refreshing to get an entirely new, interesting character to discover. And knowing something about him what Shepard doesn't, that's thrilling.

I wish we could have an entire team of new characters, instead of tired old ones. And I wish we could have an introductory comic on every one of them before the game. Because that's just fun.

Eh, correct me If I'm wrong, but the only ones I remember that call, Shep a Soldier are civvies.

No, the term soldier is applied to Alliance personnel in general.  Ash calls herself one on Horizon, for instance. Jacob also refers to himself as one.  Chakwas calls Jenkins one when reminiscing.  The Codex and novels also use the term.

Um, he's pretty clearly going to be rejoining the Alliance at the end of the comic.

That's why I found it strange, if Shepard was to go willingly, why put him behind bars? Specially if it was anderson the one that picked him up.
I also don't think that most of the crew would accept getting shackled. They probably left the SR-2 before Shep turned himself in, and I would love to see those "goodbye" moments.

I'm still not sure if I like Vega. Was it too hard to find a Mute button on the tv? :P
Also, wasn't he supposed to be a newcomer to the whole intergalactic stuff? what is he doing on Omega, then?  Seems that idea got scrapped.

Considering the Alliance's view on Cerberus it's very likely all crew and squad members apart from Shepard would also be put on Trial and accused of working for a terrorist organisation. Those crewmembers would've seen it coming and left the Ship before Shep was arrested I assume.

ETA: All apart from Joker and possibly Chakwas I guess. I wonder what's going to happen to them when the Alliance takes over the ship.

Much like their ranking system this disappoints me, but oh well. Anyway, contrary to popular belief a lot of marines are like the dudes from Generation Kill.

Hey, is it just me, or does anyone else spy a female turian on the same panel as the new alien? The turians stomach are more rounder then usual.

yay! another "Shepard fan" to the bones....¬¬

I was expecting someone a little bit more cautious in his opinion regarding Shepard. but oh well, let's deal possibly with another Conrad Verner (only difference is that this one knows how to beat the crap out of the bad guys).

That seems to be a very boring character...stupid, unidimensional, a typical american soldier...no brain, just muscles. who the hell needs such a deadhead?

LOL.  My Shep would love a deadhead on her crew, but probably not the same kind of deadhead you meant.

I like Vega, he's kind of like Ash in a way. He has his views defined (sort of). He already supports shepard and bashes anyone who tries to insult/assault him for it. I like him.

I guess some people just NEED to hate someone - in a game or real life, doesn´t matter....

What I really want to know is HOW other governments caught wind of Shep´s doing? I mean, it was a pretty covert mission, only Hackett and perhaps some higher ups knew about it!
I guess it was after escaping the prison, the guards must have recognized him and sent a message to the Hegemony...?

And yes, I know there is very few to none evidence, but still, they must´ve gotten wind of it somehow!

I really hope he's not Ash's Rule 63.

These are the comics.  For Mass Effect.  Do you really need to ask? :P

I just want to be Vega's advocate for a quick moment here. A lot of people are writing him off as just another meathead soldier and using this comic as further proof without taking into consideration one important thing: Mass Effect 3 hasn't come out yet. Sure there is still a chance that he could be this exact same thing, but we can't base that on a few screen shots and an 8-page comic. This short comic could represent only a small facet of Vega's personality.

To put it into perspective try and imagine Wrex in his pre-clan leader days starring in this comic instead of Vega. Pretty easy to imagine, and yet Wrex is by far one of the games most beloved characters.

tl;dr I'm not saying that anybody praising Vega is anymore justified than someone who thinks he's a shallow character who never should have existed, but give the guy a chance to actually appear in a game before judging him.

A little more on topic now I would like to say that this comic has broken my long Mass Effect drought and I'm glad to have something game related in the 170 day stretch from here to ME3.

THIS.

I'm one of those few ones who actually liked both Kaidan AND Ashley and suffered for killing one of them (and Ashley is dead in my canon playthrough, just because I liked Kaidan more and he was my LI). I missed her a lot, and now - because of that comic - I'm happy to see Vega aboard.
And yes, I like his "thuggish" ways =) He seems to have motivation enough to join the cause.

And I hope Bioware changed him to something more...handsome just like he was drawn in this comic lol
