Hey @Iohanna :)

As far as it being for show, they have Shep in chains mighty early for show. They're still on Omega. I mean, maybe the Alliance has turned on Shepard. It looks bad. What Shepard did looks really bad.

I don't think this is going to be a wink, wink, nudge, nudge cake walk for Shep. Although, with Anderson....perhaps it is show for the Alliance guards that are there....oor...arrgghh1

This thing opens up more questions than it answers.

But basically, it's prelude type thing. So, we meet Vega I think on earth. Because that's where ME3 is supposed to open. This just gives some back story on Vega and how he got there, and his....issues.

I think Shep is in chains on earth. someone pointed out that maybe Vega is the only guy Anderson could trust to guard Shep because others might kill Shepard. (Or, Anderson thinks Shep has some Cerberus operatives inside that would free her...) Ugh.

Damn fine read. I use to like Vega when his picture as shown. Now I LOVE that man. I might just make a Femshep just to romance him...

That was a bunch of schlock, it was a bar fight involving a character I don't know fighting one dimensional aliens with no names for some vague reason. I think I'd get more human characterization out of watching two football hooligans beat each other with pool cues over "That Ref".

Don't mind the story, some little details that don't make sense, but I won't judge it as it doesn't really go into that much detail. So anyone know how official this is?

So the big bland-looking space marine is also a violent, homocidal thug.

I really hope there is some justification for his presence on the Normandy.

Okay, this doesn't look like a "deal" Shepard worked out. Shepard's in chains. That's not a good deal.

The deal wouldn't have been "I don't get arrested".  It would have been, at best, "Here's HOW I want to get arrested, and by WHOM."  Because the fact is, there's no way Shep wasn't facing arrest.

I think Shepard's on earth. And of course Shepard is facing arrest. At the very least. But to have shep in chains already, while they're on Omega; on board the Normandy doesn't make sense. Post some guards outside the captains' cabin until they reach earth.

Of course, why Anderson is zippping around in the Normandy (pre Alliance repaint) doesn't make sense.

Hackett and Shepard already had an agreement. When earth calls Shepard turns her/himself in; with dress blues on. If they're on there already, that means they didn't wait for Shepard to come to earth peacefully. They came and got Shepard.

The homicidal thug who tried to avoid the fight? That one. Guy is a big Shepard fan to go through a big ass brawl just to defend their name.

He's suffering from Post Tramatic Stress Disorder and that usually comes across as violences directed at individuals, groups or just in personality. He was ordered by Anderson to be Shepard's Jailor, so I believe that he'll follow Shepard onto the Normandy using some kind of loophole because he was ordered to guard him. Not gonna say he's uber loyal to shepard, he'd just be following his superior's orders.

I'm liking Vega..I think. I wasn't expecting the PTSD, but it's nice to get a feel for this guy

Handshake deals between Hackett and Shepard wouldn't mean anything, anyway that conversation was more about him saying Shepard shouldn't try and run away, not detailing that Shepard should literally fly themselves to Earth.

Shepard is a prisoner, of course their in chains, that's probably protocol. And they would go get Shepard and take custody of the ship, not wait for Shepard to show up on Earth and risk losing the ship during transport to Cerberus or anyone else. The Normandy is probably being led by fighters and other frigates. The only thing that would be out of place is making any stop, unless they picked Shepard up on Omega.

Is that a collector on the left in the background of the last panel on page 4?

That was unexpected. And good. Although the dialog was painful sometimes.

So Vega is a somewhat special traumatized soldier?
This is a very good background for a new character who just is about to fight in the reaper invasion. Talk about stress. Could be a very interesting character indeed for the scenario and could have some good dialog with the Sole Survivor since they're alike. Guess my Shep will make a new friend. :)

And also, new alien species on page 4

Hmm... Not sure if this has been brought up before but this is the second time we get a reference to "Admiral Anderson". It's possible that if you chose Anderson to be the human representative on the council he resigned and became an Admiral.

This was set-up in the final book. Give it a read if you have time, it's about Anderson raping Cerberus.

It may have been set-up in a novel, but for those of us who actually chose him as Councilor, this sudden twist that he's no longer working with the Council in ME3 is a slap in the face, especially given his words on the matter in ME2 when you talk to him about leaving the Council:

Councilor Anderson: "Serving on the Council isn't how I planned to spend my twilight years. Sometimes it feels like I'm beating my head against a wall. Knowing the truth about Soveriegn is brutal, it's nightmare stuff. I can't blame others for not wanting to believe it, but I know how important it is, so I keep trying. Fighting the good fight, right?"

Shepard: "Forget Udina and the Council. Join my crew and help me stop the Collectors."

Councilor Anderson:
"I'm too old to go racing across the galaxy. As much as I complain, I've got an important job to do here. The frontlines, that's got to be yours."

Interesting. But why would the alliance need a tough guy to guard Shepard, anyway? I thought he told Admiral Hacket he would go down quietly to earth when the time came

I don't think the Alliance did.  I think it was Anderson's choice.

I would have preferred if we actually learned something about Vega rather than the fact that he is a walking slab of meat.

Guess you missed the very obvious implication that he's suffering from PTSD.

I noticied, but the information was so minor that it wasn't even worth mentioning in the first place; Vega's possible PTSD would have been a much better topic than his fighting of the nameless batarians.

You apparently didn't catch the subtext from his tone there: he really did hate the job and doubted that it really was "the good fight".  Also, Anderson is in his fifties.  In ME-land, he's still plenty young enough to go racing across the galaxy.

I really hope that the situation will be different depending on your choice on who should join the council. I don't want Udina to join the council just because bioware says he will join no matter what your choice was.

Your complaint was that we didn't learn anything about him other than "the fact that he is a walking slab of meat".  Well, we did, regardless of whether or not it was as in-depth as you'd have liked.
