I'd like to venture a guess that SF means Special Forces, even if the offical designation is 'N'.

It's already confirmed. David Silverman was wearing a suit with 'Special Forces' under Vega Alliance logo at Gamescom.

So, barring the fact that their comradeship starts in as a Prisoner+Guard, during the game, would it be much of a stretch to assume that Shepard becomes something of a mentor to Vega? Considering he's got little to no idea about the political BS going on in the galaxy and that Shepard is ranked '7' in the Special Forces?

I'm fairly certain that Shepard isn't literally on the Normandy. At this point, I think he's in transit to Earth, if not there already. Probably on a classified transport, Batarains want his head on a silver platter, so going along that line of thought I believe that Anderson came to Omega with only a small entourage, not as an official mission, to pick Vega up and make him essentially Shepard's Jailor.

His shirt says 'SF - 03' - I'd like to venture a guess that SF means Special Forces, even if the offical designation is 'N'.

"N" is part of a vocational code.  SF-03 could be a unit designation.

Ok so first the decision to keep or destroy the collector base is disregarded, now the decision to put anderson on the council is too? Wow, so much for "choices" and the "many decisions lie ahead". I'm beginning to see that aside from cosmetic dialogue (angry/nice/) there aren't really "choices" in ME at all. And this is supposed to be a prelude to Vega? Really? about 6/8 pages of him getting into a fight and we're supposed to obtain information about him? The ME writing team is really starting to tank.

The '7' isn't a rank.  It signifies proficiency.

Where have you been?  Retribution, where the Councilor Udina thing first came up, came out over a year ago.

I know but I could have sworn that one of the writers said that's what happened with the canon shepard, or something to that effect. It's irrelevant though, as these are two "big decisions" that don't really matter. I don't want to take this thread off topic though, so I'll leave it at that.

Excellent. Looks like I found a replacement for VS. Good to know that Shepard's got at least one human on his side. Shepard needs someone he can trust during an all-out war.

Shepard's a prisoner. Figures. Do your worst to the champion of humanity, Alliance. Let's see just how far down you can fall.

You can't really address the "kept the base or not" decision without making player choice irrelevant (I'll still point out that we don't know how that decision factors in to ME3 yet, but you're free to assume whatever you want)... that councillor situation can be explained with Anderson stepping down between games (which is consistent with the ending of Retribution as well, he has other things to do right now and can't do them as a councillor). But whine about your lack of influence on the story if you must.

Wait, the guy from the DOOM comic book is going to be the one guarding my cell.
Good luck buddy, you'll need it. Also, he's a gorilla AND a fanboy

I don't see the correlation. Mister Vega actually seems pretty levelheaded, considering he just wanted to play some damned cards.

...damnable...

"Ah, the damnable racket of battle!" Blargh, I miss Jolee's wrinkled old butt.

Interesting.  Vega seems to have a bit of baggage to deal with.  I wonder what this "incident on Fehl" was and why an Alliance officer is getting drunk and picking fights on Omega.  He does seem to know, or know of Shep and may be a fan.

I wonder:  Does this comic indicate Shepard willingly turned him/herself in to Anderson, or have the option to have done so in the ME3 intro?  I'd like to think my paragon Shep would have done so.  (And let the crew make discrete exits before doing so)

Only real downer here is yet again an indication that Bioware says "You chose wrong" if you made Anderson the human Councilor.  I'll never believe a "there's no canon" line again.

Oh great. The character I was determined not to like goes around kicking the tar out of batarians in his leisure time. This puts me in a difficult position, Bioware.

Hate when that happens...

Seriously though, great find, looks fantastic. Can't wait for ME3.....

I intially thought Vega was gonna be a dumb**** but this comic actually gave me a respect for him. He must be a pretty damn fine Badass if Anderson picks him up specifically to be Shepard's Jailor.

Yes, I keep saying that. I reckon its a cool position.

But why does that last frame show a Normandy SR1, when it is mistakenly labeled SR2. Im counting on diddymouse's cosmic knowledge for this.

The SR-1 doesn't exist anymore, so it kinda has to be the SR-2.  If you're talking about the appearance...well, it's an ME comic.  They haven't been the best at accurately depicting the ME world:

-snip-

Anyway, I enjoyed this comic, short though it was. Wish it was longer and explored Vega's character more in-depth.

Fair enough didymos. But their are other sr1's, its a ship class isent it? But I get what you mean. yes its not the same sr1. Im just nit picking i guess.

Im not sure if that is a class designation, or a ship designation. but mind you, in most modern warships the ship type has the same name as the first ship in its series. So im guessing it is a class designation. who knows.

PS: It could be a decoy

Here is how the conversation is going to go when Shepard breaks out and gets back on the Normandy...

Shepard: Ok Vega, if you want to be on my team, I'm going to have to redshirt you.
Vega: What, I have to sit out a season?
Shepard: Uh, no. I'm talking Star Trek redshirt, not NCAA.
Vega: Oh. :(

I dunno if he won't get left behind with a nuke if I have to choose between him and one of my old crew.
