Characters You Expect to Die

Shepard has the choice of a kamikaze run in the Normandy that will put back the Reaper invasion for a few years. This obviously needs a few extra hands at the controls, so Shep needs someone to help and that will be the ending choice. The real question, do you take your LI on the suicide run or force them to leave the ship?
Not a spoiler, just an idea.

Anderson, he's a confirmd temp squad you get from the start, let's compare that with ME1/2.
In ME1 you got Jenkins... that didn't end so well
In ME2 you got Wilson...Same here
In ME3 you get Anderson following the trend it doesn't look so good
Compare it with any Bioware game.
Kotor: Trask
Dragon Age: The Grey warden recruits
Dragon Age 2: One of your siblings.
They need a temporary squadmate that dies right away, it's a Bioware thing.

Old Mentors with kickass background history always die.

Liara will probably survive for whatever future games are planned, X amount of years after the current trilogy, as a window into the past as it were.

And I would bet on Garrus. They'll probably kill someone whose death would be unexpected and painful for most players, given his popularity.
TIM is probably a dead man, too.
Anderson? I don't think so. It's so obvious that I think the developers will keep him alive just because it's such a cliché. If he dies, it won't be sad or even surprising, everybody will look at the scene, grinning, "I saw that coming!".

Anderson - too damn old and too damn slow. Cannon fodder!

Pre determined deaths should only be for non-squadmates. As much as I'd hate to see it, Anderson fits into this. As do Udina, TIM, Hackett, etc.

If I remember correctly, the first people to die both in ME1 and ME2 were also the first people Joker talks with. I don't have high hopes for the poor souls who talk to Joker first in ME3.
not really. in ME1 - canon fodder was Jenkins -he never talks to Joker. in ME2 - cannon foder was Wilson - he never talks to Joker. if in ME1, you mean Kaidan, well - some people actualy save him over Ashley, so he's not predetermined to die.
in ME3, I'm almost tempted to say Anderson will be canon fodder, but I don't think so, actualy. I doubt he will die that early into the game, so there's probably a redshirt in there that we haven't met yet, unless you count a certain character from the trailer?
in general? I think everyone will be able to die, including Shepard, depending on which choices you make. especialy if they are a squadmate.

If you screw up somehow I can see it happening, but killing off characters as a unavoidable plot point is very frustrating. Like when your spartan gets killed in the end of Halo: Reach.
Kind of killed the game for me.

Either Anderson or Joker.
Because they're well-liked, 100% alive so far, and Sassy Pilot and Cool Mentor Guy always bite it.
This.
I am 100% certain that one or both of them will die. I would love to be proven wrong, but seriously, they're practically wearing target t-shirts. Sob.

Those I think are going to be inevitable deaths: Anderson, Hackett, Thane, Mordin, Joker(maybe), TIM, Samara, and Wrex (I think he is going to die, but will go out like a complete badass)
I do not think Shepard's death will be inevitible, but alot more likely then it was in ME2. Since Bioware says there are going to be a large variety of endings, I foresee several good endings in which Shep dies. Even so I think there will be a way to make it so Shepard survives in the end.

Its a good thing the game lets you play him in a different manner, because I'd like him to die if he's renegade.
Anyhow, since no one's talking about side/minor characters, I think/hope the following will die:
- Turian Councillor, in the same manner as that British ****** in Pirates of the Carribean 3 "its just...politics..."
- Han Olar, the cowardly Volus at Peak 15 in ME1. Maybe while finding absolution.
- The Rachni. Sacrificial bugs.

Technecally speaking, Shepard did die right after talking to Joker. She/he just...came back.
