Hey look, it's this thread again.

I really hope BioWare has enough class not to emulate the male-gaze, pandering-to-teenage-boys, soft-porn style of "romance" that Witcher 2 exemplifies. Every time somebody points to those cheesy scenes as "mature", I'm immediately clued in that the person is a) male and B) pretty young and/or immature. Seriously, as a woman I found those Witcher 2 scenes to be borderline offensive the way they objectified Triss, who is on full display, while simultaneously pulling the Austin Powers camera gag where Geralt's naughty bits are always obscured. And the moaning and panting soundtrack is just HILARIOUS. Seriously, kids, I'm sure you find better ****** fodder out there.

Oh yeah because every Witcher 2 fan is a teenage male boy who enjoys watching ****** on his screen......

.......except that out of a game over 30 hours long the scenes where ****** can be shown barely ammount to 10 full minutes ( and that's IF you spend hundreds of your gold coins on getting ****s AND accepting to **** every woman in the game ). So yeah I'm sure it's the sex scenes that attracts me to the game as well those almost one million other fans of the series.

Do you realize that the game would NEVER get just an M rating by showing Geralt's genitals? There's some pubic hair shown there but no Vagina from Triss. Just like Spartacus shows ****** like no tommorow and barely shows the genitals on men, that's for a reason.

On one hand, you have some saying nudity / sex / cursing is the epitom of maturity

No one has said that. It obviously isn't the height of maturity, but it is part of what flavors The Witcher.

They are fighting strawmen to show exactly how perverted they are not.  Whatever their reasons, I'm not going to even hazard a guess, but they want to fight on the grounds that people who are comfortable with nudity and sex depicted must be "wrong" in some way (teenage boys, no girlfriend, perverted, whatever.)

You do realize you are not going to change any of their minds, and if nothing else you are just feeding them by trying to be reasonable?

Well actually a lot of what people find sexually stimulating stems from what they aren't supposed to see or do.  Breasts, for example, are seen in a lot of unindustrialized cultures as baby feeders and not sexualized objects.

Yup its a cultural thing. Well said.

Where have I ever accused slimgrin of being immature, has no girlfriend, is perveted..etc?

Considering that the OP basically said that Witcher 2 sex scenes which can be argued to be more a kin to a porno is mature romance.

Most are referring to the OP not you or any poster who are trying to actually make a constructive argument. No one is even bashing Witcher 2 players in general.

Maybe rephrased as sensual not much different to kissing a neck is sensual and percieved romantic, or blowing gently back of the ear could also be deemed as such. This doesn't make the ear, neck or breasts romantic but what you do with them could be.

Never really got why women so secretive about their breasts, I'll show you my man nipples any day doesn't make a difference to me. I show them off everytime I go to the beach or sunny day I want to sit in garden sun bathing. Which means to me just because it is percieved as sexual is the only reason they cover it up, but don't those very same women oogle mens chests for very same reason, double standards much?

However genitals I can understand but again in games sex scenes the reason it is more acceptable to show a naked lower part of women is because other than pubic hair for the most part you see nothing, there is nothing hanging out to see. With men it is different it's all on show and not just some hair. Why women wish to see male genitals in first place is beyond me, no amount of grandmas super mega wrinkle cream will fix those badboys.

P.s. This thread reply was said in jest but you'll never get past my flame shield anyways. :P

Depends.
Romeo and Juliette is widely seen as a great romance (I am assuming), but it annoys me.
I am not sure how one can qualify and quantify the quality of a romance, it may be possible. But ultimately, what matters to me is whether I feel something or don't feel annoyed. I don't feel anything, or feel annoyed, that that's not a romance I'd like.

Romeo and Juliette created a connection on a personal level. The politics mixed up in the issue seemed to be trivial next to the romance... therefore it amounted to a tragedy.

:blink:Personal level? They hardly knew eachother...

No no no... what makes Romeo and Juliet a good romance is their dialog (the written poetic words of Shakespeare).... their actual actions on the other hand are quite stupid and in modern perspective are not of 'love' but of lust, which were often confused back in the day.

Foolishness of youth... etc etc

My apologies to you, KoP, as you are right.

I just see most of the responses to slimgrin being overly antagonistic and largely distorting what he says.

It's too easy to meld too many responses from many different people into one big monster of all the worst traits of the bunch.

Considering most were mainly bashing the OP who was actually trying to say that sex scenes with a lot of nudity is mature romance and in reality that is false. ME1 sex scenes showed a little nudity but it was no where above what is usually shown on TV and hell at times its less graphic than that.

Having not played TW2 yet I cannot comment on the "porn" quality of it's sex scenes but I would wager a week's pay that they are, at worst, soft core porn level (like Emmanuelle or late night on Cinemax.)  Most likely they won't match many of the hard R "mainstream" movies out there like Body Heat or Color of Night.
